I just got home from the hospital today. Was sleeved July 30. I thought it was a piece of cake. Other than some wicked gas pains in my chest post surgery, I was out of bed walking right after recover...briefly, but walking. There is pain, but with meds it's manageable, and I suspect once I get a full night of uninterrupted sleep, i will feel like a new woman tomorrow!

July 3 here. Down 23 lbs and super excited by that! Hard to get in my liquid and Protein also! The Water is a little easier now but still have a tough time some days. Today is the first day I made it to 56grams of Protein and I'll have a yogurt before bed putting me at my 60gram goal. Hate the Protein shakes so much! Only can tolerate Syntrax nectar fuzzy naval with orange juice. Everything else I have tried sux! Even the ones I liked preop I can't stand! I also hate every calcium citrate I've tried so far! Yuck!!!!!

CalTrate tastes like tootsie rolls.

Had my sleeve done on 7/22. Also had 2 hernias repaired (umbilical and hiatal) the 2nd day was the worst! Today I'm day 4 post op and feeling alright. Doctor has me in puréed food already. Had scrambled eggs and puréed ham for Breakfast and chicken salad for lunch less then an oz. I tried cottage cheese for dinner and my sleeve didn't like that too much. Decided to have a Protein shake and it's taking me a while to finish but it tastes so yummy! Taking my Vitamins has been the hardest !

I had my sleeve the same day. Still on full liquids.

Sleeved on the 23rd. No complications... no nausea or vomiting, no Constipation or diarrhea, very little pain (I would call it discomfort instead of pain and stopped my pain med on day 3), the gas wasn't even that bad (though at the first hint of discomfort, I was either having a gasx strip or chewing a mylanta gas tablet). I had mine done in an ambulatory center instead of a hospital and was there less than 24 hours before discharge. I still have until Tuesday on full liquids, and I'm so over it. Bought some different Soups today to increase my variety of flavor profiles. I'm finding that the Soup mixed with the powdered milk fills me up more than Protein Shake or kefir, I'm assuming because it makes it pretty thick, not quite a paste, still a reasonable liquid. Like others, I have had it with the oversweet Protein shakes/meal replacements, though I rely on the Premier Nutrition chocolate in the morning to provide a good foundation for daily protein. I'm adding nonfat dry milk to my soups to increase to a reasonable amount of protein and drinking kefir also (I've found one that has 16g/serving). I'm getting in about 800 cal and 70g protein/day over the last 3 days. I'm not measuring my Water, but since I'm still on liquids, I'm really not too worried about it at this point since if I'm not "eating", I'm either drinking or having popsicles. I'm only 2 pounds down from my surgery morning weight, but the gain from the iv fluids while in the clinic was significant and took an entire week to get off. Downhill from here.

Wow....no my doctor strongly warned me to stay away from anything that has a lot of sugar....forever. The first ingredients you should be looking for in the Protein shakes are whey Protein isolate (not the whey concentrate) It's probably all the sugar content that is making you feel bad. You should not be consuming anything that is making you sick, I bought my protein shake mix from my doc's office and it's called Bariatric Advantage. It's a little pricey but it is good. They have a website that you can order from. I would definitely stop drinking the Boost...sorry I can only imagine how you must feel. Get better.

Yeah--they said it's only because I have to get in 800-1000 calories, and otherwise I wouldn't be able to bc I'm still on liquid diet until Wednesday...but I just feel like it's hurting more than helping! I have 2 scopes of Syntax nectar Cappuccino flavor with 8oz 2%milk which gives me 54g protein, and then try to have V8 mixed with 21 g of unflavored protein (gives 23g)....so I'm getting in enough protein (goal is 80-100g/day), but technically not enough calories without the boost.

What's everyone else's calorie count and how are you getting it in???

Down 11 lbs since surgery :D

For now, until I reach soft foods, calories are not my concern per the NUT.

I have been given 60-70 as a goal and the 64oz of liquids. I have been tracking in MFP and am averaging around 500/cal a day. Once I get onto soft foods, it will be 800/cal a day.

Hi all. I had my surgery on July 29th and I'm doing ok. Had to stay an extra day in the hospital because I couldn't swallow anything without excruciating gas pain! Came home yesterday and doing better today. I have been having frothing. Anyone else having this problem out there? It's very annoying and keeps me from drinking as much as I should!!!

I was sleeved on July 15th and so far I am doing well. I am still struggling with my liquid goal of 80 ounces and Protein goal of 100grams

My problem is that I am still in liquid stage and I do from time to time have what i feel is hunger pains..I thought that would not happen for months.

In the early stages it will be hard to get the volume in to hit both your goals. It took me 12 weeks to consistently get 60 gms a day and get 48 ozs of liquid in too.

I was sleeved on July 23rd so that makes me 10 days out. I'm down 15 lbs. I am still on mostly liquids. I've tried to eat scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes but my belly was not happy. I'm still on Protein Shakes and Water. Egg drop Soup was recommended by my nutritionist and it goes down nice. I'm not in pain but I get odd feelings now and then. I am scared to cause a leak so I'm being super careful. Yay for July sleevers!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
