3rd day of pre-op liquid diet...and I ate grilled chicken at a baby shower sit down dinner. I didn't eat anything else, including the cake pops. Still went down another pound yesterday. I've been reading about a lot of complications lately and started getting a little freaked out. One of the grandmothers at the shower told me she had gastric bypass and that I was making a good informed decision. I feel like God put her in my path to calm me down.

Feeling hungry today. Day 4.. feel like giving up and eating. I feel like everything around has to do with food. Hope this feeling passes.

Today is better than yesterday....I was desperate for real food last night--but didn't go there.

I didn't get to the Y last night, so I popped in my Zumba DVD today....haven't done it in a few years....don't ever remember it being this hard.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Just another day, maybe two and you will feel normal again. I'm on day 8 and didn't feel normal until about 2 -3 days ago. It truly does get better. So hang in there!

I agree. I'm on day 7 or 8, and I think yesterday was my 'hump' day. Feeling ok now... Knock on wood

Khicks, I would live to be your surgery buddy!!! I am also terrified!! I keep thinking if all the worst case scenarios rather than the positives. I didn't have to do a per-op diet either

I had a blue raspberry Isopure drink today that was pretty good and a change from the shakes. 40 grams of Protein, 160 calories & no carbs. But I really want a hamburger patty with some mayo. I guess I will have beef broth for dinner and pretend. I think part of my food issues have to do with wanting something "exciting" to eat. I really miss the savory, salty foods. I'm not hungry, but I still want them!

I am on day 7 of my pre-op and I am having a bit of a hard time. I tried the Bariatric Advantage high Protein Meal Replacement stuff on Saturday and the texture was so offputting then yesterday I tried the unjury Protein mix stuff and that was even worse....I thought I was going to lose it before I even swallowed. I am drinking slim fast high Protein shakes but feel like I am not getting enough protein. I eat sugar free popsicles just to have something to bite into.

Any suggestions on how to make it through the rest of this week and the beginning of the post-op diet? Did you find Protein Shakes that you could tolerate?

Thanks!!

EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control from Walmart are good (17 pro, 2.5 carb, 100 cal), Isopure ready to drink from GNC are ok, but they don't keep me "full" (40 pro, 0 carb, 160 cal). Celebrate Vitamins ENS are good (25 pro, 10 carb, 150 cal). Good luck!

You may be right about the protein.....the BA has 27 grams per serving.....so I'm getting a total of 103 grams of Protein on my plan (3 shakes, 2 nonfat, plain yogurts)

I've been mixing BA in the yogurt for a "pudding".....tolerable........however, the Premier Protein RTD drinks are good (30 grams per serving).......by themselves, I like the chocolate better......BUT I like to mix the vanilla in with 4 oz of Decaf coffee.....and pour it over lots of ice.......yum!

the PP RTD's can be found at walgreens in a 4 pack and at costco in an 18 pack (I purchased it from walgreens first rather than investing in a huge pack from costco).....

Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
