How was your 5:2 day today?

My biggest dilemma is that I have to take medicine in the morning. I don't want to eat until around 11 am because I like to have a late night snack of 100 calorie pack of cocoa dusted almonds. I've been putting off taking my medicine but the one I can't put off is an anti biotic.

I guess I can share this ,lol. I have to take an antibiotic before have sex or I will get a UTI.I have to take it with food.

I guess half of a Greek Yogurt would be 50 calories. I need to look up string cheese and baby bell light.

How about you? Is the 5:2 plan working with your life? I also don't like working out with my trainer on an empty stomach.

Will this not work if you have 11 hours in between instead of 12? There must be some reason you have to have 12 hours off.

Thanks Cowgirl, it is Niebles actually. I remember hearing about that person that was kicked off and I seem to remember that she wasn't actually a real coordinator, just an obsessive fan who tried to

Hi Globe I was just thinking the same thing that we haven't heard from Coops. We were in the same slow or not losing boat. I have not lost much on 5:2. I actually like the fast days I don't think about food and I am able to practice control over snacking especially late night. So I will stick with it for a while. Let's see if my new low sticks with me. Have a great day ladies.

Fast day yesterday and it went quite well, trainer been here this morning so feeling tired now. I must go and make myself a healthy brunch so that I don't waste that exercise.

I have sent a PM to coops asking if she is OK and saying that people have noticed she is missing. Coops and I only live about an hour away from each other and we have threatened to get together before now, we should really do it.

I am keeping the emotional eating under control for the moment, not sure how that will be when I have to put the house up for sale. We have decided we are not doing that until the New Year so that we can have Christmas here. This house was a 10 year house in our 'plan' and we have been here 8 so we are only shortening the plan a little. Unfortunately unemployment didn't feature in the plan nor did loss of the business. Well a shake up is not a bad thing.

For anyone feeling lost/ lonely/'heavy'/ unhealthy I offer up positive thoughts.

I love this group.

Kim - LOVE your website and all your cool art. I'm a classically-trained artist that went down the digital path...but I do love my roots, paint, ceramic, fiber....aaaah! Thanks for sharing!

Good morning girls. Fast day yesterday did ok came in around 550.. Went to bed and was kinda proud because I wanted to stay up late and snack but I cut myself off and went to bed "hungry" not my stomach or my head.. My mouth.

I swear it have an oral fixation! It's my mouth that wants the taste, it waters in want of food :P

Well, third day running (actually fourth) that I have not eaten ANYTHING until around 2 and then a cup of cocoa and a mini babybel then part of a smart one or lean cuisine for dinner. All days it Sunday (600) was less than or about 400 calories. :(

Guess there is something to be said for having the "crudsl! Nothing appeals. And coming off of a food bonanza from last weeks cruise, I am truly amazed. I think my body is actually just telling me I don't want all that crap! Ha!!!

So I've out in about 3 straight and on my fourth fast day this week. Not that the scales wi reward me but I'm at new low and I'll take that.

FYE, thanks for you words of wisdom. I always love reading what you write! What kind of work do you do in the arts? I would love to see some of your work! You should post some pics.

http://feedyoureye.com :)

Loved getting to MEET you through the podcast. Nice to "hear" a voice and get a better glimpse through your artwork!

Georgia - why won't they give you any more hormones? I would like to go on preemptive hormones

Globe, they said after a number of years heart/breast cancer risks higher. Seriously, I think I'd take the risks!! I was in for 10 years. My Mom. Took for 50 years!!! Course, she had heart trouble too. :(. But she also had diabetes.

Thanks all!

Just wanted to say I am deeply grateful for my life. Rocks and all. I have met remarkable people and other beings, I have learned something now and again. I have unlearned much more. I have had adventure, exaltation, pathos, and a deep human experience. My weight is really an illusion floating in the mix of experience. It is attributed dependent on illusory circumstances... it is not real from its own side. Its ultimate value is ever changing. This body is a vessel that carries me through this world. You can't hate it and live the most expansive life possible. ....unless you choose to live a tragedy... Just saying.

Did you teach the arts in the prison system?

Off topic but have you ever read any Wally Lamb books? "She's come undone" is one of my favorites and " this much is true" but he also wrote a book called "couldn't keep it to myself"

About his time teaching writing to a group of female prisoners..

A snippet of the description, it is an awesome read..

:::::::For several years, Lamb has taught writing to a group of women prisoners at York Correctional Institution in Connecticut. In this unforgettable collection, the women of York describe in their own words how they were imprisoned by abuse, rejection, and their own self-destructive impulses long before they entered the criminal justice system. Yet these are powerful stories of hope and healing, told by writers who have left victimhood behind.::::::

It is followed by a book called I'll fly away...

By the way "she's come undone" is a haunting book.. I could not believe while I was reading it that a man wrote it..

I taught in the California State Prison system for a couple of years. Mostly at a womens prison in Stockton. Also Folsom and Napa. Most of the artists that I worked with from Arts in Corrections via the William James Association were such fantastic people. So much talent. At least as high quality as college or university in my opinion.

I will have to look up those books, looks interesting!

Wow...I don't even know what to say. This really hit home with me...you can't hate your body and live the most expansive life possible. Unless you choose to live a tragedy.

I seriously can't stop saying this over and over in my head...what am I choosing? A wonderful rewarding life or a tragedy?

Thank you for those words.

Your work is amazing. Thanks for sharing that with us!

Hey!

I'm here, been reading up on the posts and had much thinking to do...

Dee, I am gutted to hear of your situation, truly I am!  Wish I could do something for you, I am sending cwthes to you, yours and your lovely dog!

Cathy, what a crap time you are having too - all that bad news in one foul swoop!  And good for you for not turning to food - much respect there m'lovely!  And yea, we will defo meet up.

I'm ok here - very busy in work and tired with it.  Lost for words really after reading this... but I just wanna say, regardless of weight and weight related goals, we are all good, honest decent women and I feel very attached to you all...

Not feeling so good and honest today...

I think I may have pushed Cheri over the edge (along with others?) on another thread :(

I don't want her to leave and knowing that my insensitive comments could of contributed to her leaving saddens me...

Cheri, if you are reading this I see now that these two threads have struck a raw nerve, I was not insinuating that everyone is fat from overeating alone and I did not mean to bully anyone or gang up..

I think, and this is no excuse, that a lot of us are feeling stress these days and coming to this new and "improved" site has added to the stressed atmosphere. We have all but been reduced to two or three ongoing threads.. And things get lost along the way, but more importantly I think some fuses have been shortened and lit easily..

Sorry my friend..

Occasionally I realize how many hours, days, months and years that I have spent wanting to look different, spending money and time on trying to change the "not ok'ness of my body/me" when I could have been having fun, or helping someone, or making something magical happen, or learning something new.... What a waste.  It really pisses me off! It moves me to go make up for the lost opportunity! I heard a method to get rid of negative behavior.... schedule it. I will now go plan on spending 5 minutes hating my body. The rest of the day? I will work on one of the other activities that are more worthwhile. We have a powerhouse of talent and heart here ladies! AN ARMY. don't you forget it. We can change the world, one little bit at a time. Sarsar, you know the main topic of my (art)work? Vanity. I know its a problem. Its a deadly sin, and a poison. Hating ourselves is a vanity. Thats what I think anyway. I have been working on this one for a while. Vanity and impermanence.

Interesting. I was raised to believe that I was ugly because my dad called me that, and fat, and useless and stupid and all those things. Somehow in life, feedback through successful career and schooling etc led me to feel very confident in my intelligence, in my innate value as a human. I have struggled with seeing myself as someone physically attractive but more importantly, as seeing myself as someone who is lovable.

I have been seeing a counselor and one of the things that I realize is that the not being lovable or worthy of love or those things is actually much more compelling then the attractiveness factor but i have confused the two in my mind at times.

Here is the crazy thing - even when I was fat, I could still get dates/had relationships. Even my non communicative EX have told me i am pretty. I have no explanation of why my belief system is such that I am unattractive/unapplealing other then the fact that it was pounded into my head by my dad.

Now, I joke about being vain, but to some extent I am embracing it. i LIKE looking good. As time goes on, it isn't even really about attracting prospective boyfriends, it is about do I LIKE it! I think that I am living through some missed experiences in life and one of them is this vain stage that i was never really allowed as a teen or twenty something when most women go through it.

I think it is all tied up in the being sad about getting old, like I missed out and will never regain a certain aspect of my life.

whenever I get feeling too sorry for myself - I remind myself of the many many people who would LOVE to have to turn 50. My dear little sister didn't make it past 40 due to breast cancer and I let her memory give me a kick in the butt for my ungratefulness when it rears it's ugly head.

Truth of the matter is that this is a GREAT decade for me coming up. Kids are nearly out of the house (one more year of college tuition!), I have a good career, lots of friends, am physically very capable and active. I have a good life and so much freedom! When I was young, I made so many decisions toward getting to this place in life - and I have made it! Getting rid of the excess weight was my nemisis and even that is under control. ya hoo - so what if there is a little chin wattle and wrinkles to go with it. :)
