I know this isnt what u want to hear but with the affordable care act u could wait an year & see if prices radically drop & or your insurance will pay or u can get insurance for reasonable rate & then they'll pay.

I was self pay in the States. I called different groups/hospitals in my area (StLouis) I found Mercy bariatric (about 45 miles out from me) was the most affordable. My total was 15,500. It was a smaller hospital but I received most excellent care there. I did consider that it may be more affordable in a year or so but getting my life back, decreasing pain and increasing mobility was not something I wanted to put off. Money well spent IMO.

He spent over an hour with me post op answering in and all questions that I had. He is very caring and everyone I know that has used him have been extremely happy with him!

I had my sleeve done on July1...and I paid cash for it in Louisiana. I live in Shreveport and the 3 surgeons there where all about $18,000 & up. However with some research I found Dr. Borland in New Iberia about 3.5 hours south of Shreveport and paid only $9,800! I am traveling down today for my 1 week post op visit....I have done quite well comparing to some posts that I have read here and have already lost 20 POUNDS!! I feel great and the only regret is that I did not do it sooner! Hope this helps! Good luck with your process.

I too went to Dr Thomas Borland! I'm 5 months out and feeling wonderful! No complications, no regrets.

$9800 flat with no hidden fees!

Thinking about Dr. Borland can I can't figure out how to PM any of you! Lol. Was there a long waiting list and what do they require you to do before surgery? Also are you expected to go back for any follow up appointments?

Also if someone could fill me in on the PM thing! Thanks:)

i'm in canada and my parents are paying 25,000$ for it. I will say however that you should not be looking for a bargain. My procedure may be expensive but it includes a great deal of health professionals (follow up every month for three years with the surgeon and one year with the nutritionnist, nurse and family doctor also).

You actually need to find a team you will feel comfortable with. I think that should be your #1 priority. Being in Canada, my family and I made the personnal decision to go toward a private practice because it could take up to a year (or even three years) in the public system and also because i might not have been considered for the surgery (being around 230lbs).

Just make sure you find the «right team» for you, i think it is the most important of it all.

I also used Dr. Shillingford in Boca Raton, Florida! $10,500 and it covers the first year of follow up. I traveled about 5 hours to use him. His office staff and himself made for an outstanding experience! I felt very comfortable every step of the way. I am now 7 months out with no complications and down 95 lbs.

How are you all paying for this if I may ask?

I'm sure everyone has different ways, I'm guessing some use the credit care, a medical loan, some probably use credit cards or a combination of credit and savings. Some, like me just paid cash.

Good luck to you.

Lol at this one...obamacare socialism and no end to rediculous cost. Only 23 states will cover baratrics under that...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
