Teachers Supporting Sleeved Teachers

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I would love to set up a support group for other teachers. I'm a fifth grade teacher in Northern KY. I am still on the pre-op side, so going into surgery it would be nice to have other people to really talk to. My sleeve surgery date is August 1. I'm nervous as can be!!!

I'm also a teacher. I spent 10 years at the high school level teaching English, last year as a 1st-4th grade librarian, and this year I'll be moving to our 7th and 8th grade building as a librarian. I was sleeved this year on the Monday of my spring break (March 18th.) I took two additional weeks off, although I think one off would have been plenty.

I'm a teacher and I'm in. I had mine done just before winter break and agree that one week off would've been fine (was nice to have two off though).

I'm a teacher in Eastland, Texas! I spent 7 years in Kindergarten and made the switch to High School Spanish last year! I absolutely love the "big kids!" I was sleeved 6 days ago on 7/1. I'm so glad I have more summer to recover because there is NO WAY that I could go back to work after a week!!! I'm still dependent on pain meds and my hubby! It's been a rough week.

I CAN'T WAIT to start dropping the weight... I think my students will be just as excited as I am! I'm also the Cheer Coach and I will feel a lot more "worthy" of that title when I am more fit!

I am a teacher too! I teach 3 & 4 year old children with special needs. I love my Pre-K students!!

I was sleeved on 5/31 and have lost 30 pounds so far. I was sleeved in Cancun, Mexico.

It's great to have a teacher's group. Thanks for starting it!

Now I'm gonna start.... Lol! I'm dreading this pre-op liquid diet because I've been reading such negative comments. Have any of you experienced this? Is it really that bad??

I had a 12 day liquid Pre-op. The first couple days were rough, but I took Tylenol to get through the headaches. Those were due to withdrawal from sugar, caffeine, etc. After the first couple days it wasn't too bad. I lost 10 pounds.

The preop is to shrink your liver so the surgeon has better access during surgery. It's not necessarily to lose weight, but I was glad I did because I gained 10 pounds from the IV fluids during my hospital stay.

I was very grateful to have gone through the sugar and caffeine withdrawals preop because it would have been awful to go through that in addition to the surgery recovery at the same time!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
