Veterans - not allowed to post

Recommended Posts

I tried to respond to a thread in the veterans forum and it said I do not have enough posts to post in this forum. How can I get around this.

I don't have a clue, I've never had anything like that happen. C'mon, post HERE what you were going to post!!! :) Are you a veteran? I am asking this, but I'm really not sure what constitutes a veteran!!! LoL Wherever you are in this crazy ride we're on, good luck!

I believe that forum is locked until you reach 100 forum posts. I'm not sure you can get around it, but you could try PM'ing Alex (the forums' creator) to see if he can let you in?

I was trying to respond to the 5:2 diet thread. How do you send a message to Alex? I'm not sure what constitutes a veteran either. I am a year out..

Hi, Lifer!

I'm at home now, after being sleeved on Monday. Things are really very good--except for the killer gas pains that seem to tie my sleeve in knots whenever I take even a TINY sip of something. Other than that, I'm resting very comfortably.

I do have a low-grade fever (100.3) but when I called the surgeon's office, the nurse said as long as it stays under 101, not to panic. I'm really looking forward to being able to take small sips without clenching my teeth against the gas pains!

Hi Cynthia--to be considered a veteran you have to have at least 100 forum posts. The more you post, the closer you'll get to the Veteran's Forum being unlocked for you! ;)

I also read that you have to be 6 months post op in addition to the 100 posts.

I have searched everywhere. The VSG Veterans forum says you must be a year out. I assume this feeds from your "surgery information" from your profile which I verified is correct (2years out). But it still says its locked. Is there any other place to look for a solution to this?

Thanks

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
