I am 3 days post op. Sleeved on June 27th. When should I expect to have a bowel movement? Hope this is not too personal...

Happened on Day 6 for me...and it was painful! Once I got that out, though, I was in the "bowels are more loose now" mode...lol! Talk about TMI!

This is a TMI wait until you get to the Constipation. I didn't get regular without Fiber or milaax until month 5. It does get better though.

Your question is not out of the ordinary alot of people ask the same question. I think mine was day 7. but you have to remember that you are NOT eating alot of food and your body is really using what you are putting into it. so not much waste to get rid of...and your intestines are very long, you would think that it would come out faster but without something behind it pushing it out.

When did you begin taking fiber or softeners? I am having surgery in a week and what to know when I should start taking anything. My surgeon post op diet is days1-4 clears then 5-10 full then puréed for 2weeks after that.

They wouldn't let me leave the hospital till I had a bowl movement so they gave me laxatives every night. By day 3 I was running to the bathroom every hour. Since then I go about every other day or at least every 2-3 days.

My friend gave me a recipe for poop pudding. Its good and you eat like 2-3 tablespoons a night and it keeps you regular

1 1/2. cups pitted prunes

1 cup applesauce

1/2 cup all bran Cereal

1 cup prune juice

blend really well.

put in fridge

it tastes like raisin bran Cereal with pudding consistency

i am 3 months out and it works well

Guest Jason Cody

I went on day three. Since then I have regular movements. As my liquid diet progressed so did the liquidity of my bowel movements.

I heard I had to fart and pee to leave, I was up and in bathroom peeing ten minutes after surgery. Was released following day, farted second day, and bm third day as I recall if that is what you wanna call it, it's no where near normal lol

This is good. Would've probably saved me some toilet time in the beginning. Lol.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
