Right sided pain...

Recommended Posts

Sorry I haven't posted lately. I have been really struggling with having any energy whatsoever, but still forcing myself to get outside in the evenings and walk. Last night I had something really weird happen to me. I went to reposition during sleep and experienced this stabbing right sided pain. Now today it hurts when I take a deep breath. I am worried and its Saturday of course. Anyone give me any advice or peace of mind that this is somehow normal? I am 11 days post op today. Thank you!

Do you still have your gallbladder? I had those pains when I had mine, but only on flare ups, which were NOT fun!

Yeah I still have it but never in my life did I experience gall bladder problems before. I find it sketchy that all the sudden I would be.

That is one of the possibilities of this surgery, having gallbladder issues. I had mine out before I was sleeved. Maybe it could be a gas bubble, too. Maybe take some gas-x or something similar and see if it goes away. If it persists, definitely contact your surgeon and find out what it could be. Also, what helped me when I had a flare up, if it is your gallbladder, was walking and take some of your pain meds if it gets too uncomfortable. They prescribed me Lortab before I had mine removed to help with the flare ups.

Thank you! I really appreciate your advice. I am feeling better. I took a hot shower and walked for about 10 minutes or so. The pain is gone. Must have been gas related. Thank you!!

I have been in complete misery for the last two days. I was sleeved on the 19th, did great, had my one week post op, advanced to puréed. All was well. The next day I overdid it a bit with tooany errands and was exhausted. Had gotten a Protein and veggie smoothie that had a tiny bit of honey in it, but only drank about an ounce. Came home had some Soup felt fine until I got off the couch! Broke out in a soaking sweat, dry heaves, dizziness and total bowel evacuation. Had such sharp pains/spasms all night in my abd , just like labor. I passed out trying to get up to get my phone and came around on the kitchen floor. So, for the past two days the cramping and spasms continue, am taking pain meds every four hours, back in Clear Liquids and feel like an alien has been trying to get out of my stomach. I am now terrified to eat anything!

Wow! I am so sorry to hear that you are going through that. I was sleeved on the day before you and finally today I am feeling well enough to do some light housework. I think it's good that you went back to clear liquids. I would also make your dr aware and or NUT if they aren't already. I would be concerned that dehydration may be an issue specially with the diarrhea. I myself suffered from diarrhea for about 3 days which I paid dearly for until my nutritionist told me to start adding benefiber to my daily routine. Maybe you could also try some Fiber for the diarrhea. I really hope you feel better soon! Maybe sipping warm broth?

Thanks Amy, today the pain is better, just feel really sore still and can barely take a breath. Am taking in plenty of fluids and voiding well, so not worried about dehydrattion. Did not have any BM for three days but back to diarrhea today. I am just terrified that I pulled something out of place or did some internal damage. Today I stayed with mostly clear liquids but some full liquids and did ok. The Dr.'s nurse who is the only person I can reach does not seem to think much of any of it. They no longer have a NUT and to put it lightly the amount of support I have had from the so-called "team" is basically non-existent. I am really jealous of all the folks who rave about their docs/teams, etc and all of the support/encouragement. I think for my own peace of mind I am going to insist on being seen tomorrow just to be sure all is well. Glad you are feeling stronger, keep up the good work!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
