Came home with a new sleeve & a bad cold!

My throat is sore & my nose is stuffed. At least my body knows better than to sneeze right about now! Normally I'd drink lots if soup, orange juice and take some cold meds. Can I still do that? Orange juice is high in sugar. I'm having soup now, how about the cold meds?

I too have a cold, and I know it's a cold because I am six weeks out. I also would love suggestions on what cold medicine I can use. Hope you feel better Hun!

My nose is stuffy & phlegm infested. Plus my kids are sick as well. I think I was about to get a cold & surgery lowered my immune system so I got it sooner. Just a guess.

So soon after surgery I think all you can do is ride it out. Stick to water and broth. Avoid oj. Too much acid on a fresh wound.

Just stopped at the drug store and got Tylenol multi-symptom cold in the liquid. It tastes yucky but doesn't have NSAIDS. Give that a try. I wouldn't do juice unless you cut it with water. That's a whole lotta sugar. The soup should be fine and will definitely help. Especially homemade chicken soup.

I would advise the op to consult the surgeon about taking any OTC meds so soon after surgery

Ask your doctor- your stomach is swollen and sensitive! You don't know how meds will affect you right now. Remember, nothing with ibuprofen or aspirin but Tylenol is ok but still talk to the doc or nurse first

I've chosen to not do the cold meds. I just got my prescribed Percocet & I'm thinking of taking it. A bit scared that it might make me nauseous. But if it will knock me out it may be worth it. ???
