August 2013 Roll Call

Recommended Posts

Day 8 post-op update, band to sleeve revision on 8/19. Feeling better every day. The first 5 days were so hard. I knew they would be hard, but it was so much worse than I anticipated. Not at all like my band surgery, more like my bad c-section 13 years ago. One thing I had not expected was the anxiety, I was terrified the whole first week that I was going to have a bad complication and have to go back into the hospital for months. Surgery was Monday, Friday afternoon I turned a corner and started feeling better. Now every day is noticeably better, drinking more, walking further and easier, moving better, less pain and less anxiety. I finally have some hope for the future!

Keeping all my fellow August sleeve buddies in my thoughts and prayers for successfull surgeries and recoveries!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to give you all am update. I was sleeved yesterday morning and I'm so happy to be on the losers bench! Last night was very hard because of the gas pain and bloating. I couldn't get comfortable at all. But today I feel much better. I'm able to keep down my liquids and meals so far. They are still waiting for me to pass gas though.

Ok family, I am a week out and I am now able to have pureed foods...YAYYYY....last night I went on a bariatric website and checked out my binder to get a feel of exactly what I could start to eat. So this morning I had thin grits, lunch was a strawberry banana Protein Shake, and for dinner my 12 year old daughter cooked; she has been doing this to help me out and is very good at it; but dinner was turkey wings in a mushroom gravy, and mashed potatoes; I took pieces of the meat that fell off of the turkey wings in the gravy mashed it up and with each bite mixed it with the potatoes and gravy and mashed it some more. It went down real smooth no complications made sure the portion was so small and mussy that it looked like there was a baby in the house' But it was so yummy....The only thing that I can say that I notice is that after Breakfast and dinner I got the hiccups...nothing hurt and I pretty much got the same gas pain that I get when I sip on my fluid...so I assumming that this is normal if anyone else has this same type of experience please let me know...

When I get the hiccups that usually means I'm full. Happens every time.

I read on here the other day a couple of the sleepers sneeze when they are full. Guess we all have our little signs.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
