Minnie- comparison is the killer of joy. Something like that. I do it too.

I'm 3 mos and 3 weeks and I'm at 49 lbs lost, so I think our loss is pretty normal.

Losing 50 pounds in 4 months is awesome! I was sleeved Oct. 2nd and have lost 53 pounds (CW-206.6 lbs) The weight loss for me has been super slow and I've even considered the DS or adding the malabsorption component but then I start to realize that I haven't given the sleeve a long enough time to work and that I needed to give myself 2 yrs to reach goal or before I start to consider myself a failure. I'm definitely a slow loser but I'm not giving up and I have zero desire to ever try diet pills ever again. Just be patient <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

U r doing great!! :) thank u for ur advice :). I'm just scared I'm gonna stop losing weight when I reach 6 months:(

I've had several stalls since I've had my surgery I would say at least 5 different times but was loosing inches. I would change up my diet for 3-4 days eating things I know I shouldn't but I would back the healthy food and weight would fly off I think a persons body gets in a norm and don't allow you to lose and the few day change makes you body go back into weight loss mode. I've lost 186 since oct 10,2012.

If you stop weighing yourself, the number on the scale will not have the power it seems to have on you right now. It will force you to measure your success by how you feel. Can you do that? ;-)

I started weighing myself like 2 or 3 times a day and I started really obsessing about how much weight I was and wasn't loosing. I refused to eat sometimes because I feared gaining weight. Then I realized I could not live like this for the rest of my life so I stopped weighing myself. I only get weighed at my doctors office now. I just really focus on the food I put in my body, I have given up all breads, refined sugar (my yeti best friends) and I haven't consumed alcohol since November of 2012 (5 months before my surgery) I hardly eat out (occasionally I will have some sort of grilled chicken wrap eating only the inside with no sauces) I eat alot of tuna (dry), fresh fruit, veggies, and low fat cheese. I have a really hard time eating food without drinking Water so I have make chicken beast and year it up and I literally will eat small pieces of chicken all day long sometimes. I have Protein shakes for Breakfast and the biggest biggest biggest thing is exercise. I'm up by 330am in the gym about 4am I work full time and after work I'm at the gym again. I know once the weight is off I probably won't have the same work out schedule but until then I will be a gym rat.

I think you would be hard-pressed to find a responsible doctor willing to prescribe you a weight loss drug (there are newer ones than phentermine on the market now) so soon after having bariatric surgery. I am assuming that you are eating very few calories right now, which is the point of both bariatric surgery and WL drugs. If you, say, cut that in half, your body wouldn't be able to function and would go into starvation mode, which would actually backfire and slow down your weight loss--not to mention messing up your metabolism. I would focus your energy instead on trying to get more exercise and making sure you get in your Protein and Water.< /p>

No phentermine after, therapy would be better, I know that hunger isn't a true feeling I get anymore, as they remove this with your surgery however it varies, i've learned almost all of my hunger is based on nothing but head hunger, the best thing is to find a hobby or something to take your mind off the food.< /p>

I have not, but it is certainly an option for some people who have maybe done well with it in the past, for me, it gives me heart palpitations so I would be very hesitant to go on something like that again. I would actually rather take a small dose of Ritalin (has a similar effect) than phentermine.

So I don't think that drugs are going to help you. You've lost a ton of weight in a short period of time. What was your expectations? That always puzzles me when people say that they've lost a lot in a short period of time, but still aren't happy with the results. Keep in mind we didn't get fat overnight, and it isn't going away overnight either. Stalls happen. It is our bodies way of readjusting to the changes that we are putting it through. You'll break the stall, everyone does. I am a slow loser but I wouldn't think about taking drugs again. I'm in it for the long haul.

Hang in there, you'll get to where you want to be!

I agree with you but keep in mind that some doctors will encourage this to push someone out of prolonged stall, especially if that person still as 100+ pounds to lose and the days are ticking away, because as most of us know, the majority of the weight we are likely to lose is going to be what we lose in that first year or so. This is a general statement, and there are people who will steady continue dropping for years, but statistically this is pretty sound.

Have u known of anybody that's taken phentermine after vsg? That's the only reason I would like to take it cuz of the stalls but I'm also afraid of what it could do to my "new" stomach..... I'm afraid I'm gonna get ulcers.

Call your doctor and talk to them about it so your answer comes straight from them. My first reaction is no but I don't have a real medical answer. I can understand your frustrations though.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
