Ok, MA bandsters.....let's do this !

Ok, the holidays are over so no more excuses. Let's try to get together. I would love to meet so many of you guys from MA and I hope most (if not all) can make this work:

1) Who is interested in getting together?

2) Where do you live and where would you be willing to drive?

3) When would be most convenient for you (days/evenings/weekends)

4) How soon can you do this????

I will try to coordinate and make this convenient so that as many people as possible can come.

we made few friends down this part of the state and pat the birthday girl has been like a sister to me ( and it was a surprise to her). I am planning on going to the thing the beth I. gang is having in March. Anyone else?

deb

Hi Deb!! Yeah, I think Sherry and I were planning on attending the reunion in March, and perhaps maybe a couple of others from BIDMC will be able to as well. Hopefully you can make the next meeting. It was a lot of fun! And look at you still rocking away without a fill! Only 6.5 lbs away from Onederland. You go girl!! :)

Oh, and for those of you who heard me say that I haven't had any problems eating anything and that I haven PB'd....well that streak ended this morning. I jinxed myself!! I was laughing the whole time. I kind of have a sick sense of humor, I know.

Overall it wasn't that bad, but it certainly wasn't pleasant. I think I tried to eat something that was too heavy to early in the morning. Yuck!

Hey it was nice to meet all of you. Thanks for having me there, and no chrispy, being the stud that I am, I'm used to being surrounded by tons of women.....lol.

Anyway, it was great to hear your stories, very inspiring, and I'll email you guys out pics as I drop. Thanks again and good luck to everyone!

John~ nice to meet you as well ! Please do send some before and after pics. Guys usually lose so much faster and seem to have an overall easier time than females. I am interested in hearing how your band journey goes.

Ya... it was great to meet everyone!! Thanks again for the cloths... it was a great idea and maybe next time we will have a huge clothing swap. Hope to see everyone soon.... skinnier im sure:biggrin1:

Hi All,

One of the questions I wanted to ask last Sat. at the get together was how often do you girls have trouble with being sick or PBing. I was at the end of the table with the newly banded so I couldn't hear a lot of conversation at the other end. I read your report Chris. I am glad you usually don't have trouble. What about the others???

Hey Nana, Regarding your question....it depends on how quickly you learn where your threshold is for food and how quickly you learn to eat slowly and chew well. If you don't learn it quick...then you'll get a quick pb especially after the first fill. Just take it slow, chew really well and be careful of the foods you choose to eat. Test them to see if you can tolerate them before eating a meal of it. Example: Pork, bread and chicken skin (from drummies etc) just aren't for me. I get 95% of the time on those if I eat em. The only bread so far that I can eat is something with a really crunchy crust. Even then I have to be careful. Don't get too scared, it doesn't hurt but, it's not the best for your band so you always try to avoid it. As long as it doesn't happen within the first 8 weeks after your surgery you're pretty much set I think. You have to let the band heal in place that's why BIDMC won't let you go near solids for a long while.

Hope that helps you.

Hi everyone, I'm so glad I found you all. I'm here on the Vineyard and feeling very alone. I have friends that did the bypass but none with the band. Yet, the band seems the only way to go in my book! I'm just at the beginning of the trip. Gone to the all day consult and all think I'm perfect for it. Got my orders , and see the main DR. Jan 30. But I got to tell you that losing the required lbs, few as they may be is proving to be tougher than I expected! can't wait to be banded and get on with it!!! anyone here been to the Lahey Clinic?? they seem great, I hope! oh p.s., my bmi is 48
