Yes, everyone is different and will heal at a different speed... but 10-14 days is average and you'll be fine. Contact your doc if there is any: oozing, fowl odor, redness, separation, swelling or heat. You should probably have some discharge papers that review what parameters the doctor wants to be called. Good luck and congrats on your surgery...I can't wait!

This is wut it looks like

I don't like that it's red on the edges and that they aren't approximated (together). Is that yellow in the center? And be sure to check your temp for a fever. Is there any drainage?

No there no drainage. Yeai thought it was suppose to be together. Should I be worried?

No, I wouldn't be worried but;

1. Call your doc when the office is open

2. If you run a temp greater than 100 go to the ER.

3. Mark the redness and date and time it, if it spreads or starts to have a fowl odor or drainage then call the doc or go to the er.

4. Clean it twice a day with Hibiclens. It's about $6 at Wal-Mart. It's a soap that kills all the bad bacteria.

More than likely the doc wouldn't do anything but without being able to feel it myself I can't be sure of that. Occasionaly incisions get pockets of infection under them and you can feel it so your doc will check for that and if it's okay then he may not do anything for it or he may give you some antibiotics if he thinks it's infected. The only bad thing about it being separated is that you will have a bigger scar. :(

I am almost 2 weeks out and had a similar problem with the incision above my belly button. It turnrd out that it had opened a but... The NP admitted it probably could have used a stitch or two before the glue was applied, but needless to say I had that same yellow area without any major inflamtion, fever, or oozing. I was told the yellow area was "granulation" (there was more to it but I was worried about the fact that I was bleeding) It is a sign that the incision, though still open, is still healing. I was told to clean it with a gentle soap and Water, pat it dry, put a small amount of neosporin on it and cover it with a large bandaid. That was about 4 days ago now and it's already starting to look a ton better. Definitely go see your doc or the NP. If anything they'll clean it up for you and show you how to do it yourself and give you much needed peace of mind.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
