I was a total regular pop addict. I have not had any since surgery I really just stick to only Water because right now everything else tastes so off that nothing tastes good.

At three months out I tried Pepsi next. What I like about it is I doesn't taste as sweet as regular soda and it doesn't seem as fizzy. So now I indulge sometimes. BUT I do count the calories and sugar towards my daily goal and stick to one can a day when I do drink it

I just miss the taste. I'm so done with crystal light' date=' Gatorade Water ect... Need liquid ideas.[/quote']

Hi. U can drink Cola or Pepsi or any other soda after u let the bubbles set down. I mean u could get the taste but it will be flat like Water. I m following my doc s recommendation.

Best.

Soda was my drink of choice before surgery. That's pretty much all I drank. I miss it too. I have taken one very small sip just enough to get a taste. That satisfied me and I really didn't like it anymore.

I was told to wait 6 weeks, I drink one every so often but not like I use to and feel no different.

I was big Pellegrino drinker. It's a sparkling Water. It was my crack. No calories, no sugar, no sweeteners. Just beautiful bubbly Water. It was heaven.

Gave it up a month before surgery because of the carbonation. Not everyone surgeon says no carbonation post surgery but mine does so I decided I would follow that. That is what is best for me. I can't even try again to see if I "can" have some because it would be a very, very slippery slope for me.

Of course, there are times when I miss an ice cold diet Pepsi, you know, that first drink where it kind of burns going down your throat in the most delightful way, giving your innerds a nice tickle all the way down......

Yep, a slippery slope indeed.....

My doctor says never. I'm s huge seltzer addict. I love a nice cold seltzer with a twist of fresh lime! Butttt, my doctors know best and if they say no carbonation, then I'll be giving it up!

Different people have different opinions. Personally I'm one that believes everything is ok in moderation. But I would wait until you a while out. I was told at least 6 weeks but preferably never. I'm going to give it 3 months and see how it goes. If it doesn't effect me one or two sodas in a week won't undue all progress made. Bottom line in moderation it won't kill you just be sure in moderation.

I'm 3 weeks post-op and just couldn't resist a few sips of diet coke yesterday. It went down fine but I spent the next 3 hours burping like crazy! It put me off a little but I know when I strongly crave it again I'll suffer through the burping :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
