Unfortunately no suggestions but here to commiserate! I already have thinner hair it is getting to the point where I am afraid of literal bald spots, not just thinning. I am 8 months out, a lot of people say months 6 - 9 are the worst. So I am hoping it stops soon!

Ok my NUT said to make sure that you are getting all your Proteins in and that will help with the Hair loss. I haven't had my surgery yet and this is my major worry. I already have thin hair to begin with and I can't afford to loss any. Goodluck!

When the time comes, I'm going to get a weave. I have long hair & don't intend on cutting it.

I feel like I'm going bald too!!! I take 20K mcgs of Biotin a day, and that doesn't seem to help. I am about 4.5 months post op. I don't know if a weave would work, since the hair is falling out by the roots. Don't you have to connect the weave to existing hair? Someone else said Fructise fall out Shampoo worked miracles. I'm going out tonight to buy some!

I have noticed by using the fight fall Shampoo, I loose less in the shower.... I'm 5 months post and the Hair loss is devastating. I also use the Topix powder stuff from Sally's and got a pixie cut. I would love to hear from some white girls that got weaves, how they looked, how long they lasted and how much they cost. These are desperate times!

I came into this game with a lot more hair loss than most vsg patients experience after it. I just had surgery last month so I haven't started surgery-related Hair loss yet, but I am sure it's just around the corner. Now I can pretty much hide most of my hair loss with Toppix or Nanogen, but if I lose more, I'm not going to be fooling anyone other than myself. So I have an appointment here tomorrow:

http://www.hairforwomenhpi.com/

they do custom hair pieces and wigs for women. Supposed to be one of the best places in the country. I may need to sell off some of my investment funds to be able to afford it, but I think it's worth it. I'll be sure to report back :)

(I have mixed feelings about this, hence the conflicting emoticons)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
