Another good way to get in Protein is to mix Silken Tofu into your smoothies. :)

I could hardly choke the powdered shakes down' date=' but kept trying the first couple weeks after my surgery. In fact, the thought of them still makes me sick! I switched to the ready to drink premier Protein shakes and I love them. I'm six months out and I still have one for Breakfast every day. Just keep trying things till you find something you like.[/quote']

Me too. Try premier. Give up powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and making shakes. Try Atkins Protein Bars too.

I am a vegetarian, and I love to do lentils (cheap and high in protein) - I have found several great recipes using lentils in chilis and Soups. eggs are also good. My favorite Protein Drinks are the American Bariatrics Fruit Drinks (taste like Crystal Light or Koolaid) and the AB cappuccinos (which I mix with my coffee). Another favorite powerful Protein combo is a vanilla Greek Yogurt mixed with some PB2 - Peanut Butter Powder. Delicious and high in protein!

they are all gross! I am the same as you. It is actually the one like that almost made me not have surgery because I hate it that bad. I will see I think you would do so much better with the premixed ones. I have found one that I can drink alittle at a time. It is a premixed choc. and I put it in the freezer to get it very cold with ice sickles in it. I get a cup and pour alittle at a time so the rest can stay in the freezer and stay cold. The name is EAS myoplex original. I have the choc. and it is VERY creamy and choc taste. 17ozs and 42g Protein. It is going to be hard since you don't have the money to get something else to try.

I been suffering with Protein as well before I had surgery my doctor put me on a protein diet and I could drink the shakes no problem but since I had my surgery on may 28th I been having a hard time now I'm on pureed foods and I can't take down a shake to save my life so I been trying all kinds of stuff to get these Protein Shakes to work so this what I'm trying and it seems to work this morning I make a protein mixer that I should have 3x a day

2Scoops of 100 whey 40g

1cup of plain Greek yogurt 18g

1cup of soy milk 6g

1tbs of cinnamon

2tbs of vanilla extract

3pk splendid

That should give me 64g of protein the rest I get from my foods now I'm still tweaking things some days it work but so far so good my my next drink is at 4 pm so let's see if I could get it down and it stays I will keep you posted..

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
