I love Emma Patterson. She saved my life. I've had VSG then three months later, a hernia repair that could not be done during the sleeve. I did not care for one of her PAs but that person is gone now. I have great experiences with all of her other staff. I also get along well with Dr Raum.

I'm in Portland, done at OHSU on 10/1/13. OHSU has support groups monthly. They have a mailing list you can get email reminders about them but this has been hit or miss for me lately. I know I have been able to find the group dates via the mychart website.

Good luck!

Excellent! Congratulations mickally! What an inspiration for me...I'm making good progress but you have made GREAT progress. Very happy for you and feeling more motivated.

Congrats to you as well KristinaRnY! The forums on bariatric pal are very helpful to me and especially so following the surgery. Best wishes!

How is everyone doing? I'm down to 75 loss. I hoping for another 20-25. Need to get motivated on exercising. Had labs done. Cholesterol is still way too high.

That's a fantastic loss! I'm getting more and more anxious and excited each day I get closer to surgery!

Nice! Making that kind of progress has got to feel soooo fantastic! Nor sure if this will help but over the long haul starting a year and a half before I even had surgery, eating lean meats, increasing veggies and Fiber all helped me get my bad cholesterol down.

I am in Portland. My surgery date is 14, March at OHSU with dr Clifford Deveney.

He did mine on Feb 12. The team at OHSU will take good care of you. I am feeling great. Down 30 lbs, in the first 3 weeks. Rode my bike yesterday! They will send you home with all kinds of meds for naseau, bloating, gas, stool softener, heartburn... I haven't needed to take any of them. It goes so smoothly that you can hardly believe it even happened!

Wow. So, today has been 30 days. It has gone really well. I've not had any problems at all, other than being a little tired of Protein Shakes. =p. Went for a bike ride yesterday. I *was* losing 10 lbs/week, but been stuck now for a week. At about 500 calories/day it's got to start coming off again soon, but for now, it's a little... frustrating. All in all, it's been good.

But I am sorry I rather have the best surgeon in our state the. Have an ohsu dr. That are not as qualified and have a great bed side manner.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
