I saw cats fighting

They made noise and tore out fur

Just like forum girls

How come the guys never have this type of fun, clawing each other to minced meat like the forum girls? I think we would be really bad at it we tried; it would definitely be laughable. Lol. Then we would all get together, break bread, share some beers and call it a night. Metaphorically speaking, of course...

My mother and father are and were very overweight and I was an obese kid but that was partly genetics but mostly my fault. I was a foodie. I ate rich lunches and dinners while on business and with my family. My wife and I have traveled extensively and we also enjoyed many a great meal at four and five star restaurants all over the world. Of course a few bottles of wine or champagne were consumed during those meals. We lived off diets of wine , cheese, bread in Madrid, Paris, and Italy. We celebrated our. 20th anniversary with a 23 course meal in Spain and we ate every small course the waiter put in front of me. I gained tons of weight over the years and my wife did not. So did I take in to many calories and eat the wrong foods? The answer is yes I did.

What one sees as a lecture, another sees as useful information. I tend to work off the assumption that most posts are made in good faith. I know I can't control how others react to my own posts, I can only be true to myself really and can't spend time in angst over whether or not the emotionally vulnerable may find my plain speech challenging.

Seriously, some people just need to take a deep breath before reacting to a strangers views on a free forum.

Weight loss and weight gain is simple. It's calories in vs calories burned...we all know that. Sure, metabolism has some influence on that equation but every human still has a resting basal metabolic rate. Based on age and height/weight and activity level, it's a mathematical configuration that will tell you how many calories you need to maintain your current weight. If you eat more, you gain weight. I don't understand how a human being can eat at such a restrictive level, calorically speaking, and become morbidly obese. It's not that complicated and even if you had extremely poor metabolism, you still need at least 1,000 per day to pump blood through your heart and oxygenate your lungs, etc. Your situation is very interesting and suprising to learn about. Best of luck!

I agree with everything you posted. Some people just under estimate how much they are actually consuming. I highly doubt a person is gaining weight on 1200calories a day. It makes more sense that that person was overeating for years, gained a lot of weight, started dieting at an extreme caloric deficit eating only 1200cal a day, destroyed their metabolism thus lowering their BMR and now not losing any weight eating only 1200cal per day. Your gaining because your BMR is now probably under 1000cal and your now eating at a surplus of 200cal per day.

Losing weight is as simple as calories in vs calories out... eat at a caloric deficit and you will lose weight, thats a fact. You can blame it on genetics or emotional eating ect but fact is fact no way to excuse around it.

I think most of the sly digs, if we could think of any, would go past us unnoticed. It would get pretty boring and we would have to start slugging each other to stay awake. Now it's a party! B)

I am so looking forward to the day that I'm far enough along post op that I have the brainpower and playful attitude to join in the fun. Right now, I'm taking it a day at a time but I'll get there. Thanks for the fun read tonight (not meaning any disrespect to the initial poster)!

Ladies ladies you are all pretty, there is enough weight loss to make everyone happy.

If you post, no matter what it is- expect someone to answer.

If you answer please read it back because we all can be sensitive at times. It is also hard to tell tone in writing.

We are here to give/receive support, my mom gives me support but when she says something I don't want to hear, I call it a lecture. Lets just let stuff fall off our shoulders.

Girl I'm ready to argue over these so called muffin tops!!

I'm so sick of all this crap being marketed to us silly Americans! Low fat this' date=' sugar free that Vitamin infused crap! Have you seen the new Greek yogurt **** Greek yogurt ice cream Greek yogurt cereal..

Processed **** sold as healthy for us!!

Ok breathe unicorn, breathe... <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />[/quote']

The vitamuffins are all natural I believe and taste very healthy. They're sold in the all natural/organic part of our grocery store.

But I get your frustration. It's like manipulating the system, altering and adjusting everything. It can mess with a food addicts head.

You have got to read the book "Salt, Sugar, Fat: How the food giants hooked us" if you have not already. This expose will show you exactly how much the food giants have messed with the system to make us into food addicts. I just read it a couple weeks ago and was amazed at the depths the food giants will go to, the political lobbying and the outright manipulation of advertising in the name of profit both in the last century and this century. It is a very corrupt system we live within. You must read this!

Wowzers! This thread is still going?!?! I don't usually chime in on particular behaviors but this post is quite irritating. Mainly because the only person being aggressive is the one who started the whole thing but clearly cannot see that. <_<

PS. Some of you ladies are hilarious, lol! Enjoying the haikus! :P

Thanks for giving us the link to the book to read. While I'm off work recovering I want to read as much as I can to help change my cravings and ways. Any other books you suggest?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
