Take it from somebody who truly regrets this surgery - even though I have had no complications so far (knock on wood) - unless you are 110% sure- don't do it - it completely changes your life - and not all the changes are good. I read & researched for a year...thought I was 100 %...woke up regretting it and regret it more each day. Life is more than what Mr. scale says...I just didn't realize that soon enough.

Do what is best for you & your situation. I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you, I appreciate this! Why is it you regret doing? If I may ask?

Everyone has a different experience with it. The surgery will bring huge lifestyle changes. I, personally, thought I made a huge mistake the first week out of surgery but once I transitioned to more solids and things felt more "normal" my feelings started to change. In other words, it's been great changes for the whole family. A lot less eating out, healthier ways of cooking, more Water intake by everyone, more active as a family. I have days where I get mad because I want to go devour biscuits from Red Lobster but I think about how much better I already feel and I accept it. I cannot lose weight on my own. I have come to terms with that. I will have good days and bad days.

As for the risk of death the actual statistics are very, very low. Complications can happen but hopefully they won't.

Everyone on here has had the same fear too. I did, that's for sure. I only had diabetes and every test came out really good and I passed. I did it because if i didn't do it then I would be dying an early death. So I chose to take the risk. To be totally honest, i wold do it again in a heart beat. Sometimes we just have to gamble and take the risk. There are some individuals that have had complications but compared to the vast majority, it's very minimal. A lot of people that have had this surgery have moved on to live their healthy lives because they are healthy. A lot of the veterans do stay around to give back to our community. I am one of them, but someday, I too, will have moved on. This is the circle of life. I chose a healthier life and I love my new skinniness and wouldn't trade it for anything...... :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
