on pre op diet and craving a meal!

Hi everyone im here to vent! I wanna stangle the person who invented the pre op liquid diet! Ugh! This is the end of my 4th day and I am craving a meal soooo bad. I have ben doing liquids and watermelon since tuesday and its hard! I want a salad or something small. I mean I dont wanna pig out! I just cant wait until surgery day at least then mt stomach will have less hunger pains because It will be smaller. Just wondering is anyone else going through/havd been through this issue and did u eat a meal? If so what was rhe surgery outcome?

I guess I am lucky because my surgeon allowed me to do the combo liquid / food diet. I still start to get hungry and woozy every 3-4 hours after I have a shake. It's really hard to deal when you're at work all day! I don't know what the criteria are for each individual patient that decides what diet they follow but I know that your priority number one right now is shrinking your liver before surgery. Think about it this way - if your liver is too big and restricts access to your stomach the surgeon will do one of 2 things - patch you up and not go through with the surgery or go ahead with it and run the risk of damaging your liver. I know you don't want either of those things!

It's totally fine to vent. I've been doing that myself especially today because a Chipotle just opened up near my work. Bad timing! I'm thinking 3 days down, 11 to go.

The pre op diet is the hardest part about the sleeve everything else is easy don't judge your performance by your pre-op diet

Me too. Im actually hanging in there on day 5 with 2 more days to go! June 4th I ready!

I so relate to this thread! My doc gave me a three week liquid diet for pre op-insanity! I am on day 4 and was hoping it would be getting easier but it's not. My salvation is organic chicken broth at zero calories and fills me up a bit. Also drinking a lot of water. I've just been trying to give myself a pep talk about how important the liver shrink is.
