I have a cough, what can I take?

I need to take something to stop coughing but I am afraid to take something for it cause idk what is safe. Any suggestions?

    I wouldn't take anything besides (maybe) a cough drop without talking to your doc first.

    Your surgeon's office should always have a nurse on call.... I am pretty sure all doctor's offices do. Call and leave a message- someone should call you back.
