May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow May sleevers! I am on the slow but steady train having lost 37.2 lbs since pre-op diet. Had surgery on 5/2/13. Praising God for this wonderful tool He allowed me to have. It is not an easy road, but one I am glad He showed me!

I was sleeved May 22nd sw 300lbs cw 263 down 37lbs!! :)

Good job. I was sleeved May 22 as well. 210 to start. 196 day of surgery. 183 today. It seems slow but at least it is coming off. I have to be honest though. It is harder than I thought. I have to make myself make good choices. Old habits die hard. Glad to have all of you to talk to.

Yes is not easy but well worth it. I am two months out yesterday

Starting weight 202

As of today 162

Goal weight 125

Total loss 40 pounds

Forty pounds more to go. My clothes are losse but decide not to buy new clothes until I am a least ten pounds close to my goal. I only weight once a week eat pretty much everything even a hamburger today for the first time since surgery just the meat nuthing on it. Did not finish the whole burger but I enjoy it. People has notice my weight loss but I just tell them I am eating less and working out. So far so good hope to be able to get to my goal weight by december.

great, ramirelek...I am also two months out but not doing quite as well as you--only 30 pounds for me; plus I've got a lot more to lose overall to reach my goal weight...I wouldn't mind the slow losing if I just wouldn't keep hitting these stalls....I was in an over-two week stall, and then finally started losing again...but I only lost about 3 pounds before I was back in another stall...currently it has been about a week with no more weight loss ::sigh:: it really makes staying on the program more difficult when in these frustrating stalls

Honestly I stop worrying about the stalls it happens to everyone and is something normal. I just have faith the weight will eventually come off I dont care how many months but I know is going to happen. Try no to frustrated and stress about it because we are women and stress does makes us retain weight as far as I have read. Try not to weight so much if you know you are doing what you should be doing you dont really need to be weighing that much. One subjestion instead of weighing measure yourself and for sure you will be more motivate but seen your body changing not the scale. Good luck to you and we will do it. To toggerbelly

Well today is 6 weeks post surgery and I am down 30 lbs.

I dont mind being a slow loser if it just keeps going.

I admit I do get frustrated because I was hoping to lose faster but I'm still happy.

smsgrl, can you share a little bit more about what your plan is (eating, exercise, etc.)? I had surgery 3 days after you did, and I am only down 30 lbs....this evening has been a pity party for myself I am ashamed to say...you are probably taller than me, but it looks like we started around the same weight at surgery...your goal is 145 and mine is 150...tonight I am just feeling like I am not ever going to get there :(

Ok calling all May 22nd sleeves. I am going on 7 weeks and have only lost 27 lbs. And that is the lowest weight. I go between 183 and 186. I started at 210. I need some encouragement. I eat right. I drink my Fluid. I am moving more by using a fit bit and taking more steps. I don't actually exercise. I get my Water and TRY to get my Protein. No breads, no sweets, no high fat foods. I keep my calories between 800 and 1000 a day. I am 5 ft 1 in. I don't have a robust program. No NUT. They never measured me before surgery. When I go see my Doc they don't even weigh me. There are no support groups. You guys are my life line HELP!! I am however down from wearing 2x scrubs to work to 1 x.

Wow! That is encouraging! You've gone down a size! Celebrate!!! I hate that you don't have more support from your surgeon's office. I am about six hours away from my surgeon, so I don't get to see them often, but lots of phone calls. Good job on getting a fitbit! I have one too and love it! I track all my food and water in sparkpeople.com and upload it to fitbit. I think that you will see more weight loss once you take more steps. Walking is fantastic! I truly enjoy the water aerobics offered at our YMCA. Do you have an opportunity to look into that? The thing I love is that my arthritis doesn't bother me, I get a great resistance and cardio workout with NO SWEAT! :) Best wishes for your continued success!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
