May sleever friends - anyone else dealing with Hair loss? A couple of weeks ago I started to losing hair like crazy. I started taking Biotin a month before surgery, but doesn't seem to be helping. Just wondered if anyone else is experiencing this. It is discouraging.

Taking Biotin only increases healthy Hair growth but doesn't prevent hair from falling out. My hair has been consistently falling out for years but I have noticed over the past few weeks that it has increased. I have very curly hair so you can't tell how thin it is until I flat Iron it. I have already decided that if it gets too thin I'm going to be brave and get a pixie cut!!

As we talk about Hair loss, has anyone tried hair fibers or keratin treatments?

Hi throckmorton! Forty lbs down three months? That is fantastic!!! You are below the 200 lb mark, as well, so I hope you are celebrating! I posted earlier about the "staircase" effect of the sleeve. My NUT gave me that visual as far as WL is concerned after the sleeve. You stay on one step for a few days (or a week) then you drop down to the next step where you stay for a few days (or a week) before dropping again to the next step. Sounds like that is what you are experiencing, too.

I'm so impatient! But I feel good. I can tell it in my clothes, a new size! And I'm taking pictures of myself and posting them rather than hiding from them! :)

I started out with thin hair and have been a bit worried as to what may happen. I have been taking Biotin and a liquid fish oil supplement. So far I have noticed a bit of Hair loss but it is not much worse than what I originally started out with. Anyone who has found some ways to deal with this issue please share your secrets :)

I have a friend who had this surgery years ago. She recommended that I take the same Vitamins she is. She has not lost any hair so far. I am taking ReVitalize 3times a day and natural creations enterobiotic sob probiotic supplement 2 at bed time. So far so good! Hope this helps any of you

I'm glad I checked in today. Have been frustrated and worried about my sloooow progress...surgery date was May 13th. Wt on Check in was 305, but was 325 at my Highest 2 months prior to surgery. I'm down to 266# which is 36 lost in 3 months and 59 total!

I felt that so many ppl were losing 50-60 lb in 3 months, so was feeling like I'm failing at this. I'm not exercising on a regular basis and know that will help.

My Dr at 1 month explained the stair step loss and that sure describes me! I'm happy to see my BMI down from 52-42 and my clothes are much much looser! I'm inspired by you guys all sharing your stories. Some are doing better because they are exercising....I really need to get with it. Thanks for the boost! WTG May Sleevers!!!

14 weeks post op and Down 47! Started losing lots of hair this week. Luckily I have thick hair and its not noticeable yet, but I'm getting really worried. I just added Biotin. Keeping fingers crossed that it slows down or stops soon! Cruise planned for November. Hope I have hair :(

What makes you lose hair? The surgery?

Hi Pink Dragoness! My NUT said that it a combination of anesthesia plus rapid weight loss that causes a high % of people to lose hair. Even folks who do not have WLS but lose lots of weight often lose their hair for a period of a few months. She also said that no Vitamins, supplements or regiments can prevent Hair loss if you are in the unlucky lot. My hair loss has been dramatic in the last couple of weeks and it definitely shows. I took Biotin, fish oil and mega vitamins for months before the WLS. Oh well, small price to pay, I say. I also have a friend who lost all of her hair and eyebrows due to chemotherapy treatments for cancer. How can I complain, right?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
