Any Chicago sleevers

Recommended Posts

I've been home for a little over 24 hours now. I freaked out when I realized

[*]I gained 15 pounds in the hospital on the clear post op diet

[*]my feel and ankles look like those of an elephant.

Then I remembered what Tony said' date=' "As long as you sip and pee all day long, you're doing fine". Ok really, my son remembered. I called Tony at LCMH and he said this is normal because I was being pumped full of fluids and will eventually urinate out all the excess fluids and swelling.[/quote']

Congrats !!! Glad to hear you're doing well.

Ooooooh yes, the liquids they pump you full of will take a little to drain. I had that with my csection. I kept poking my legs asking "is this normal!!?" Don't worry it will be gone before you know it. Glad you are home!

Hey chitown! I'm a newbie. I'm going to the seminar on the 15th for info @ northwestern. I know that my insurance won't cover it for sure. Is anyone getting assistance from the hospital ir paying cash? Was curious if they actually do help people without coverage

Hi Tanyac,

Have you looked at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park? I don't know what the cost difference would be as compared to NorthWestern but, it is also a Bariatric Center of Excellence and since it is a Catholic Hospital it might be more willing to provide patient assistance.

I had my surgery at LCMH on August 01 and everyone was wonderful.

Good luck

Thanks Cocopuff88. When you mentioned csection you jogged my memory. I did go through this 30 years ago with the birth of my son.

So far I've lost 10 of the 15 pounds. :D

You're going to do great. Don't be alarmed if you get a little whacky for the first few days. I felt like a crazed person the first few days until my body adjusted to the diet. I was also able to lose 9 lbs on the 10 day preop diet.

So excited for you! That's great! And I will look into that evergreen hospital thank you! I've been getting some negative feedback from a couple friends today so I'm kinda down. I made the decision and I'm going to do this but it's so hard to hear "just really work out and eat right" and you're just gonna gain it back. I think I'm just not goingt to tell anyone anything from now on. Thank yiu for letting me vent!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
