Tips to regain strength?

Recommended Posts

Happy Saturday! Does anyone have tips for regaining strength? I'm 11 days post op and so incredibly weak! My husband and I went out for our morning walk this morning and I got so clammy and felt incredibly faint after just a quarter mile. I know I have to push myself, but wow...it's tough to get strength back when I can seem to do so little. I'm doing well getting fluids down, but the Protein Drinks do not go down well because they make me so nauseous! Maybe the energy will come when I get to start mushies next week?

I can't imagine going back to work on Tuesday with this little strength!

Any other suggestions?

I think you're right that you aren't getting the nutrition you need to have energy. Time and progression along the diet are your friends. Have you tried plain Greek yogurt and Jello with Protein Powder in it (add it to the Jello powder)? My nutritionist considered yogurt and Jello to be fluids. Sorry I don't have more suggestions.

Time, Protein and more exercise. Do what you can do and each day gets better.

I'M 4 months and still get weak when i'm out,i make sure i keep my Water with me at all times,at home i time my meals every two hours to remind my self to eat,so when i'm out,i just can not eat the way i should,so it's gone to take a while, you only can push so much down.

Im 3months out the best thing that's giving me energy and I'm feeling stronger is going to the gym. I do Aqua fit

And a little weight and recumbent bike. You need Rest Protein Vitamins Water especially . But the walking You are doing is great. Just rest when your body tell you to. I just started exercising

And wish I'd started sooner. Chair exercise might help build up your endurance. But Rest some Walk some. Even now im tired if i miss my Protein Shakes. Each day will get better.

Best of luck!

Time, fluids, and nutrition are key. However, at this early stage I remember feeling super weak too.

I would suggest contacting your doc. You are describing symptoms of low blood sugar, which can be dangerous. I wouldn't be overexerting until then.Good luck and hope you feel better.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
