I hate exercising .....take a look at this

Recommended Posts

Ok, I don't really hate it however I wanted you to look. What I do do is have the intention of exercising everyday when I get home from work but it never happens, something always comes up. Then I feel guilty and the cycle starts all over again the next day.

I was reading a Weight Watchers magazine at the Dr. earlier this week, it was full of success stories. This one lady was giving tips on how to start exercising. She suggested that "when you get home from work before you do anything at all, go change into your workout clothes".......BAM ! That hit me like a ton of bricks. Such simple advice. Such common sense. It was exactly what I needed to hear to get me out of my "cycle".

For 3 days this has worked. I am so amazed. I realize now, I would sit down in my recliner and get comfortable and tell myself I would exercise tomorrow...

That's the best advice I have gotten about exercising in a LONG time so I thought I would share it with you.

I hate excercise! The only time in my life I seriously stuck to a program was when I made a commitment with a neighbor to meet at 6 a.m. to walk 2 miles.

first, she wasn't a close friend so I would feel very bad saying "I don't feel like it today". Second, I have very little ones so I knew if I didn't meet her outside she would come banging on my door and wake the whole house.

I had everything I needed to walk right next to my bed so I had to step on them to get out of bed. Sneakers, clothes, bottle of Water right there, no excuses!

My neighbor moved and I've never walked the neighborhood again. Sad, huh

Faybie,

I love coming home, changing my clothes and kicking back in the recliner for awhile (until I decide it is time to fix dinner). I solved my workout dilemma by getting up at 5:00 AM and going to the gym before work. Now I REALLY feel like coming home, changing my clothes and kicking back in the recliner LOL.

Hehehe! I like the advice Faybie...and it works! as soon as I think i need to go for my walk...I change into my sneakers (walking shoes) even if I dont go immediately having the sneakers on is a reminder of what i am going to do...so it is easier just to put the kids in the pram and GO!

Sometimes I take my workout clothes with me to work so I can go to the gym right after work before I have a chance to settle in. I still need to go more often though...

Good idea. I am the exact opposite. First thing when I get up I put my workout gear on and head to Curves. That way I have no excuses. Good job.

That is great advice, Faybie, and it really does make a difference. I notice it most on weekend mornings, when I am deciding what to wear. Jeans and clogs, and the most I will do that day is shop. But if I put on leggings and sneakers, sooner or later I know I'm going to do something active. It's a total mindset-shift!

I too had the same problem until I joined a gym that is close to where I live and before I go home I have to pass the gym, so I just take work out clothes with me everyday and go as much as I can sometimes 5 times a week. I have been doing this for almost 4 months know and I did'nt think I would ever have gone this long working out. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

When I miss a morning workout for some reason, I always take my workout clothes to work, change there, and hit the gym before I ever get home. Getting home and thinking of having to cook dinner, do chores, etc., is the KISS OF DEATH for exercise! All these great ideas are ways to make our health the priority in our lives...YAHOO!!!!

I like Dr. Phil's idea about making yourself accountable. You have to pick out something you like to do , for me it is watching nighttime TV. no daily exercise = no TV until. The thought frightens me even now. Maybe for others reading or xbox ? Exercise for myself was just 20 minutes to start. 10 minutes down the road and 10 minutes back.

Build up slowly . A little more each week.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
