do you wear anything on the surgery table

I was wondering if it is an option to not have the catheter in. I caught a bladder infection from it when I had my hysterectomy. Does anyone know or were given that option?

Just the gown -

I forgot to remove my undies when I changed into my hospital gown. I was so out of it from anesthesia by the time they took me back for surgery but I remember the nurse laughing and saying "Now Tiffany, you forgot to remove your underwear so we're going to take them off, ok?" I remember they thought it was funny - and when I left they had put them in a little plastic bag and sent them home with my husband! LOL!!!!! That is the only thing I remember until waking up for my new life!

That's funny! Does anyone know if you can have acrylic nails? I know sometimes they put that thing on your index finger! They didn't mention that in my preop class!

They have to put in a "foley" (urine cath) so forget your modesty. My wife is a OR nurse and she has seen more "twats and *****" than a porn star.

OMG..... Now that is funny.....

What's funny about this topic was I never really thought much of being naked on the table. I knoe they out a paper gown on me prior to surgery. When I woke up in recovery I had on a typical hospital gown. Never to get much of it right away. Then one day it hit me that I woke up in something different than I went to "sleep" in.

You know what.... I had the same experience and never thought of it until I read your post.... It's been 6 1/2 months lmao....

They see one they've seen them all!!!.I work health care and trust me if you are worried about that us as health care professionals think nothing of it' date=' not like your gonna see them again thats what I tell myself when i go through the TSA LMAO..I could care less if they see me naked...ha I feel bad for them ;)...lol but no really in all honestly usually they want you completely naked underneath your gown and just like that guy said up there ^^ anesthesia will take care of any modesty issues lol![/quote']

I wish I didn't have to see the OR staff again, but unfortunately I work with them. This is the one time I regret being an OR nurse. I think I'm going to request that my catheter be put in while I'm in the anesthesia holding area. Being fat and naked in front of co-workers---one of my worst fears!! I tell myself that it'll all be worth it though.

I asked my surgeon about catheters and drains and he said he normally doesn't use either. They have you up and walking around the same day, so I think he would only put in a catheter if for some reason you were not up that day. I'm still pre-surgery, so hoping that's true!!

I did have a catheter in...they put it in during the procedure and took it out in the middle of the night..it was so uncomfortable because I kept feeling like I had to go but I was going I guess...I kept begging my nurses to take it out and they said the dr said I had to wait til midnight which didn't make sense because I was fine walking around and could easily get to the bathroom if needed. It really didn't hurt that much coming out but I was also already on morphine. . Dont have any drains in.

I had one in and they insisted I walk within two hours of being taken back to my room. I was happy to do it, even pushing my pee down the hall. I was discharged the next day and they wouldn't take out the cath until two hours before I was leaving even though they knew I was.

I had only a hospital robe on and I had hot pink acrylic nails. I remember feeling so embarrassed when the nurse told me to get into my birthday suit I had all male nurses and then when they wheeled me to the operating room they gave me some wonderful medicine thatmade me do relaxed I remember them strapping my arms down and opening my gown I had not a care in the world lol don't worry it's something that is totally worth it. I'm a little over 6 weeks down and I wouldn't change it for anything. Good luck!!

I had retainers in place of my body piercings (plastic body jewelry). The nurses had me tape down all my piercings....but when I woke up, all the tape was gone!! Guess they decided to do me a favor and rip the tape off while I was still asleep and naked!!! I laughed so hard when I noticed it was gone!! *blushing* So, yes...they see everything!!!

I went in with paper knickers on and came out 'sans'. I'd love to know who removed them, when and why. My husband says the surgeon probably has a collection of them!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
