I am starting to get discouraged. I was sleeved on April 8th (abt. 6 weeks ago), and so far have lost 32 lbs. I was hoping it would be more! I am also having problems with my blood pressure medication, and dehydration. There are days I can drink Water and get in all I need, and then there are days that the thought of Water and food just makes me sick :( Even though I know I need. I am not walking like I should be. Actually I am not walking at all. I am too weak to walk. There are times my legs feel like a hundred pounds. I know why, one of my meds for high blood pressure. I've been to my doc.

I am just upset because I thought my progress would be going better than what it is now, and that I would be feeling better than I do now. I don't. I don't blame the surgery, or getting the sleeve. I know that's not the reason.

Today was weigh in day for me too, and I lost an entire 2 lbs! No I am not happy with that at all! It just adds to the discouragement.

How much of a role does water play in your weight loss?

Has anyone else ever dealt with weakness like I am?

Also I get horrible gas (in my chest) after I eat, no matter how slow, or little of bites I take. I use Gas X strips which I usually have to use 2 or 3 of. Is there ANYTHING else I can use either after or before to help with this? It makes me not want to eat all.

Well we need the experts to weigh in. I just want to say that your mind is playing tricks on you. 32# in 6 weeks is over 5# a week! WOW! Try picking up 6 5# bags of suger!!!

Please don't you dare give up! And don't let your mind trick you towards "the easy way out".

Hang in there, friend!

What ^^ he said. Just keep trying. My doctor said that sometimes exercise is easier if you break it up. So walk for ten minutes three times a day. Even if you have to work up to walking that long, any walking is better than no walking. It'll also help with the gas you're feeling. And not having the weight just fall off of you gives your skin time to get used to your new shape. The slower you lose, the less extra skin you'll have to worry about. Keep in contact with your doctor's office. Maybe they can hook you up to a bag of IV fluids...or two...to help you get to feeling better. Being dehydrated can definitely make you feel week and nauseated. Also try eating sugar free Popsicles. It's not like drinking Water, but it's considered a hydrating Fluid (at my doctor's office it is). In the beginning when I was having issues getting my Water in, I was eating a box of popsicles a day. Maybe not the best thing, but it was helping me to get fluids in and made me think I was eating something. I wish there was something I could say to make things easier...just keep trucking. You'll get there.

discouraged

Katie

i'm so sorry you feel bummed out and discouraged, and physically not feeling great either

am i reading correctly that you lost 70 lbs pre-op???? :o

OMG thats great

as Arts correctly stated, 32 lbs in 6 weeks is wonderful :)

I'm afraid many many people here think that they are gonna have WLS on "friday" and wake up monday morning losing 100 lbs

not gonna happen :(

but i think you really do know that - you, like everyone else, just want the weight gone yesterday!!!

Water is very very important!!!!

not getting enough Water in, possibly being totally dehydrated??? sure you will feel weak!!!!

gotta force the fluids

having blood pressure problems - meds off???

that will cause you to feel weak

IMO thats the issue that needs to be fixed

glad you have already seen a dr, hopefully he can figure out the prob

continue to be pro-active with the doc til he figures out what to do with your meds

tell him about the gas issues

by not feeling well, not eating or drinking - thats gonna make you feel weak!!!!!

gotta force yourself to eat and drink to help yourself

do everything very slowly - sipping - taking extra small bites - taking long breaks between forkfuls

you will mentally feel better as soon as the physical stuff gradually improves

then you won't feel down about your weight situation

please remember - you are doing great!!!!!

just losing another 2 lb - holy moly girlfriend - you are on the right road to success!!!!

take care

feel better

good luck

kathy

Water & Protein are critical....you will feel better & feel like walking. I know exactly what you mean with the struggle. I am 10 wks out...and still struggle with it. I had to take 4 bags of iv fluids in my dr's office. It gets a little easier each day, but I know I need to work more at it.

Best of luck to you. Take care.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
