I am so glad I saw your post. I am using Dr. Kim too. I was thinking of moving over to Dr. Nicholson but he didn't have any early appointments and I don't want to wait. I have my surgery June 6th and I am very nervous!

Why are you wanted to change over to Dr. Nicholson. Has your experience been unsatisfying. I have my surgery scheduled for 28 May. I am very nervous too..

My experience hasn't been unsatisfying. His staff has been great. I was thinking of switching because Dr. Kim is far from where I live. I live in Frisco. I went to Dr. Kim because he was close to work and it was easy to get to appointments from work. I didn't realize the surgery would be at Wise. I thought it would be at Baylor at Trophy Club. Since it is at Wise, I thought it would be a long drive for my husband. Also, I read a couple of negative reviews about him not caring if there are complications. I also read that Dr. Nick does a leak test right after surgery to make sure everything went well. Guess I am a little nervous because I had a bad experience with my lapbad. I am nervous that if there are complications that Dr. Kim won't be there for me. Hopefully the negative reviews are wrong. What is your opinion of Dr. Kim?

Well, just FYI.. I am right up to surgery.. and I just finished with my Educational Class and History & Physical, which were the beginning of this week. We have a leak test the follow day of surgery. They do a leak test which you swallow the barium, kinda of like an Upper GI. To see if there is a leak. My surgery is at Baylor Medical Center at Trophy Club, Dr. Holden is the one acutally doing my surgery. I have only met Dr. Kim once, and that was at my initial eval, which was back in December. I have received nothing but a great experience with him, I just haven't read any reviews on Dr. Kim and the procedure from other patience. Where did you get that information, so maybe I can read up.. Thanks!

I used dr kim he is a great surgeon, but to me and my family he liked bedside manner. I only got to meet him once and that was on the day I first decided to have surgery. He was there to make sure I had chose the right surgeon. As for aftercare I have only gone to the one week follow up. I did not see him again after surgery at the hospital or that day in his office. I had no complications with the surgery so far. I believe its your choice in what you are expecting from the surgeon as in bedside manner or aftercare. I was sleeved on 12/4/12. He nor his staff has even once tried to get a hold of me, to see how things are going and that I am doing ok. This is just my opinion.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
