I think the drastic change in food intake causes everyone to be slightly bitchy and judgemental. Lol!!

I speak for myself when I say...hell yeah! I am slightly bitchy these days.

sweet brown say a COLD POP lol. Everyone has differant surgeons and drs. I was told in my 3 month session way before surgery that it is a tool and not a miricle maker. I was also told soda will cause the sleeve to stretch over time. but they also said no alchol and i drink that on occasion smh lol. but they didnt say alchol will stretch your stomach just carbonation.

Becareful using that word tool I got yelled at!!

Any time you want to. Same for eating brownies and ice cream' date=' potato chips, any other junk. You can also stop exercising any time you want. Really, you can pick up any "bad" habit you might have given up for this surgery at any time you want.

Does that sound preachy? It's NOT meant to be. It's just a fact. YOU choose. I could say "Listen to the advice of your doctor," but really, if you're looking for people to say "Well, I did it and I'm fine," you're looking for a reason/excuse to return to something you quit doing for FOUR months.

So the real question, I think, is WHY? If it's GOOD for you, why'd you give it up for 4 months? You gave it up because it's NOT good for you, no matter how you try to rationalize it. Are you craving it? Perhaps, but do you really want to give in to that craving?

I say this from a "been there, done that" place. When I was first banded, I lost 85 lbs. Gave up sweet tea and almost all sugars, junk, etc. But little by little, I brought those things BACK into my life. Now? I'm 25-30 lbs heavier and need the sleeve to try to get my weight back down. I honestly wish I'd never started with the bad habits...

So that's my advice to you. You have FOUR months of not drinking useless calories...why not try to make it 5 months...or more?[/quote']

Great way of putting it!! Except I got in trouble saying the same thing just in a different way!! ????????

I haven't got the surgery yet bit this is my take on things....i understand a lot of ppl want to eat healthy and all that but realisticly even slim ppl have a soda a burger ice cream or whatever a drink a beer but they just do it in moderation....i have a lot of girlfriends who are very small they workout a lot and when we go out they don't eat salad with olive oil and all healthy stuff they eat normal meals that are portion and then eat right the rest of the week now granted they not eating bad everyday and i can't speak for all of then bc one or two eat what they they just very active but my point is nobody should judge u if u want a sip of soda then take the sip i learned thru my journey not to deprive myself of anything but to make better choices if i crave ice cream i try sugar free or half the fat and i eat the serving size.....i don't drink soda but sugar is my tough area and when i want it i eat it but i try to eat a healthy sweet TRY anyway this surgery it will be hard to do that plus get ur nutrition so of course nutrition should come first but if ur doctor allows and ur stomach can stand it i don't think a sip or three will send u bk to obesity....im just saying!!!

Becareful using that word tool I got yelled at!!

I'm a grown woman. I see this surgery as a TOOL to help me work towards my success. No one has to agree with me and I don't hold varying opinions against anyone. I certainly won't argue with strangers over the internet about it either. If someone doesn't like me or my usage of words, they can kiss my steadily shrinking white derriere!

Ok this is how it is dang it. I was and am and always be a Dr.Pepper and Coke Cola addict!!! All of you out there who thinks its gonna be ok to have a sip and not go back to it again you are wrong. Its like any addiction whether it be certain foods, sodas, alcohol, illeagal drugs, prescription medicine, pornography or anything else that you have withdrawls from. You need to really look inside yourself and be honest! Dont lie! Ask yourself am I addicted and will my world end if I do not have this soda ( or what ever it is). I know I an addict. I got this way because of sodas. A 12 pack a day or more. And no they were not diet, matter of fact diet are worse for you. Good luck and realize who is going to win this battle? You or the sodas( or whatever your addiction is) I ve been there and Im still here fighting.

Pacific Northwest too.. From southern Oregon over to you guys it's "pop"

I'm waiting for the foreigners to chime in with "fizzies" .. I think that's what they call it lol

Hey, to me it's soda pop, and I use both shortened forms interchangeably. I'm a native of the Pacific Northwest, too.

A question was asked to people who are in a similar situation. I think your personal lectures on "backsliding" and such is really uncalled for and rude. We all have vices but they're not the same. The analogy using AA was good except when you go to a meeting and admit you fell off they don't get lectured they get support to fight another day.

The purpose of this forum so I thought was for support. The purpose of our new tool is ultimately to learn how to live life with things in moderation. If you can drink soda' date=' eat dessert, drink alcohol and any other taboo behaviors in moderation then your on point!! Less judgment people we get enough of that from "regular" people no place for it here.

Have a blessed day! ; )[/quote']

You are so very wrong in your AA analogy, if someone were to walk into an AA meeting and ask when was it Ok to have a beer do you think everyone would say, when ever you want in moderation or sure if your stomach can handle it. No they would not. But yes they will support someone who has fallen off the wagon, which we also do on this forum. The OP has not stated that she has slipped up, she is asking if it is Ok to cheat. For that I would say don't do it. I'm not perfect, I have a hard time staying within my surgeons guide lines and need all the positive support I can get. Good luck to everyone.

I say do what you want. You only have to answer to yourself for what you put in your body. We all hope for everyone's success in weight loss. So good luck in whatever you choose.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
