Surgerical glue covering incision sites?

Hey does or do any of you have sites covered in this clear stuff that looks like tape? I asked my clinician what it was and she said it was the glue they used to close and cover my sites till they heal. One looks ugly ( bruised dark red). So I am worried about scarring. Anyone experience this or know more they care to share?

I had the same thing... glue on all of my incision sites instead of stitches. They looked gross like a big bruise around each incision but they will eventually fall off. What is underneath, at least for me, is just a tiny little slit of a scar. What you have is completely normal and will go away :)

Yup .i had that dont worry it will come off on its own,,,do not pull or force it off.. when u shower let soap run over your incisions. it sounds normal as long as its not red red and *****,,prob dried blood and bruising.. as for scars ,,i dont know if they will ever really go away.. I am 6 weeks post op and see them ,,i put vitamin e on them and hoping they will get better... good luck

When I had this for my gall bladder, it went away. The only place I scarred at all was where I scratched it open in my sleep two weeks out after all the redness was pretty much gone. If you're worried about that, you can cover it, but the glue itself won't cause issues. Bruised-looking is normal and you'd have that with stitches too.

I had the same thing.. one of the incisions looked really bad red/pink and swollen (for almost two weeks).. the others were ok.. and it was hard not to scratch them.. I used to apply a little coconut oil over and around the glue while showering to keep the area Water free.. and the glue stayed on longer (I wanted them to stay longer.. as i was scared i would scratch open an incision during my sleep)

I'm 3.5 months post op.. and the smallest incision below my ribcage is barely visible.. others are fading too.. except for the swollen one.. it is the darkest and I'm sure it is going to stay a long long time..

Glue is the technique that scars the least.. Leave it alone and it comes off when the time is right. Could be a few days to a few weeks.
