Niki! This is awesome news!!!! I'm so happy for you. It sounds like this awful time is almost over. No stent, capsule cam, surgery and YAY!!! You must be elated :-)

Yes! And now the capsule cam is scheduled for Wednesday (insurance finally approved when I called today) and now I'm even closer to finding answers! We should have all the results I need before I go in for surgery on the 2nd, which my surgeon has yet to confirm the time.

Oh, and one other thing...I have that appt with an endocrinologist on the 27th because my cortisol level is 14 when it should be 530. That has something to do with my adrenal glands but I'm not sure why they're outta whack. But still...slowly trudging thru it....and answers are slowly coming but at least they're coming this way.

Talk to you soon! :)

Hey Niki!!

How did the capsule cam procedure go today? Hope all is well!!

Well, so far so good I guess. I was really kinda hoping it would get stuck and I would have to have surgery right away so that I wouldn't have anymore pain, but I'm still not sure if it passed. I ate a lite lunch and had the same ol' severe pain that I always do but this time it lasted much much longer. And same with dinner...you'd think I wouldn't wanna try that again but I really have to force myself to eat these days cuz I'm wasting away. So maybe it is still stuck in there where I'm having problems and I'll have an X-ray next week. Otherwise I'm still on for exploratory surgery the first week of December. The dr said I'll have the video in about 7 days.

Today's not been a good day but I'm ok...I'm a little worried about my upcoming surgery mostly because I don't have any results yet...I'm still waiting. I have an xray tomorrow to see if the pill cam is still inside me and I am still waiting on the video results from it. Hope to have both tomorrow; surgery is on the 3rd, exploratory surgery...

Thinking about you Niki! I'm glad you posted today. I sure hope things get better for you!!

I go tomorrow to see another Dr. I usually see my surgeon for everything but tomorrow I'm going to see a gastroenterologist about my severe Gerd and spasms. I going to show him all the tests that I've had which states severe bile reflux, gastritis, spasms. Hopefully, he will try and help my spasms with botox. That is what I'm aiming for!! I need help from someone! You would think all of this crap I'm going through would push my weight loss but noooo I can't have it that good. It won't budge.

Please keep us informed. Praying for you!

Sorry today was not so good. I really wish that this would just end with a great outcome after this exploratory on the 3rd. Hopefully the pill cam will give them great info. Hugs to you. Hang in there :-)

Hi Lisa...I'm hoping the botox helps to, although I don't know much about that. Sounds like I need to do some research. But I'm all for whatever helps and I'm so sorry you are still having issues and pain! I am praying for you too! I'll let you all know what I find out tomorrow, if anything. Thanks! I'm just ready for this day to be over and start again fresh tomorrow. Sweet dreams!

Ok friends...a little good news with some bad news. The good news is the pill cam passed right thru...so no major blockages that we know of...the bad news here is that the pill cam according to my doctor, will not see hernias...so there still may be one in the intestines, that or a "kink" he called it the other day. Still going thru with the exploratory surgery on Tuesday.

In other bad news, I saw the new Endocrinologist today and she is very concerned about adrenal insufficiency, because of my low cortisol levels; although she did say that I didn't have enough urine in the 24 hours to rule out a false reading. She did go ahead and order bloodwork today, bloodwork on Friday, and a cortisol stimulation test on Monday morning first thing to make sure one way or the other. It would be called Addison's disease if I do have adrenal insufficiency and it's really nothing to mess around with. She stated that I would definitely have to have a dose of steroids prior to surgery and any other procedure from here on after. It will keep my blood pressure from bottoming out when I go under anesthesia, which I've had a problem with every single time; in fact, they've had to keep me longer in the hospital because of it. And she thinks this may be why my blood pressure isn't regulating and I pass out from time to time.

Just an update for now...I'll let you know as I get the results and before I go into surgery on Tuesday. Talk to you soon!

This may sound a bit silly (apologies in advance) but my dog had Addisons. It's true that it is a big deal, but it's also very treatable. It caused him all sorts of blood pressure and digestive problems (causes v low tone in muscles of all sorts, including blood vessel walls, esophagus, bowel and stomach, heart), and a few times we thought he was on hus last legs, but once on medication and his mineral levels balanced again he would spring back like a puppy. I didn't even think of that before, but now... Well, if that's the answer its a wonderful thing, because a lot is known about Addisons and you could feel like a new woman v soon.

I presume you'll be much better at taking your meds than that cranky old dog was, although we found mixing it with icecream and bacon bits helped. ; ).

Good luck with it all.

PS: Can you get the Addisons tests finished and results in before surgery? You may be able to avoid it...

Wow, Niki just found and read this entire thread this morning. I just want to add my thoughts and prayers to everyone who is thinking about you and hoping (praying) that you get not only answers but some relief soon. I'm so sorry that you have been through all of this, and really glad you have the support of your family and friends. (And Lisa I'm sending you the same prayers, hoping you get some answers to your struggles as well.)

Thanks for all the info Susan...I'm afraid it won't keep me from having surgery but it's all in addition to because they did see something on my barium X-ray in my intestines, something like a hernia or "kink". But I am anxious to get the results which I should have all before Tuesday am. I did bloodwork on Wednesday then today and then I have the adrenal stim test on Monday am.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket. I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
