thinking about Mexican for lunch

Recommended Posts

I have not eaten Mexican since pre op (10 months ago) and am wondering what is good to order? I used to really like their prawn dishes, but know I probably cannot eat the white sauce. Going to pass on rice and Beans. Looking for flavorful suggestions that are healthy and sleeve friendly.

Depends on where your going...

But we have a place that makes a spicy seafood Soup ". Octopus, scallops shrimp, crab yummy!

But how about a steak or chicken burrito without the rice and just eat the inside :)

Fajitas (request to be cooked without oil) and an oz of guacamole would be my choice :-) Should last a few meals! Skip rice, tortillas, sour cream, cheese, and Beans.< /p>

Or chicken tortilla Soup without the tortillas... but some people add a bunch of random stuff like peas that make it hard for me to calorie count.

chicken fajitas with guacamole and corn tortillas. I was able to eat about 1/4 of the dish they served me. I packed the rest away and my boyfriend and I ate off of it for dinner later. Then I had one more serving for the next day at work.

Camerones or pescado a la plancha (grilled shrimp or fish) or tortilla Soup.< /p>

Oh or Mexican Shrimp Cocktail. They usually put some pico de gallo and avocado in it.

I am going to a chain restaraunt place like Azteca. For sure, I will have to slap my hand as it reaches for the tortilla chips. Good idea on eating the inside of a buritto.

Yeah, great idea! However, what is a fajita without the wrap?

Also, you could order the taco salad without the chip bowl, cheese and sour cream. Or if you have to have just a little, order them on the side.

When I went for Mexican, I ordered shrimp fajitas with charro Beans and gave the rice to my husband.

I am totally a Las Camerones ala crema type person. Loved it pre op. My goto Mexican dish. However, I think the ala crema would kill me now metaphorically. Now that I think about it, maybe even physically!! Deep six by the ala crema!!

That sounds like a good alternative and maybe order salsa as the dressing.

Haha, I know right, I deserve a discount! I just throw the meat on top of the lettuce, top it w the guac and nibble away. I just love the flavor in fajita meat. Maybe it's the Mexican in me? An oz of blackbeans would round it out nicely, but I am paranoid that they're cooked with lard.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
