Anyone else suffering with cramp ?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am now in my 6th weeks post op and have been suffering with night time calf cramp. Have been having this for about 2 weeks or so.

Was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what they have done to resolve it.

I take a daily muilti Vitamin, Calcium tablet, Omega 3 fish oil and glucosamine daily.

I am trying to eat a varied diet but know I don't eat enough vegetables, do you think this could be the problem?

Thanks

Sharon

I'm 4 months out now but did have cramps in calves and toes at about 6 weeks. Not sure of the cause but it only lasted a few weeks. Stay hydrated and ask your doctor about your electrolytes. Sometimes it's a potassium deficiency.

I get cramps too in my calves and I believe it is due to dehydration. When I do get enough Water I don't have cramps. Also I eat 1/2 a banana too.

It could very well be low potassium levels. I would ask your Dr. to do some bloodwork. I was worried about this and spoke to the nurse at my surgeon's office and she said the main symptoms of low potassium is weakness and leg cramps (especially at night). I would check it out ASAP.

The nurse also recommended drinking Gatorade G2 because it has potassium and electrolytes in it but is still low in calories.

You can take a potassium Vitamin. Ask Dr.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
