Finally met my surgeon. All I have left now is to meet with the psychiatrist and Egd. I'm very excited yet very nervous. My anxiety is starting to get the best of me. I'm also very scared for my 2 weeks of fluids only. Any advice?

You will do fine. The psych eval for me was nothing. You fill out a bunch of paperwork and meet the psychologist. The person I saw pretty much told me straight up that he wasn't there to try to psychoanalyze me or pick apart my thoughts when I walked into his office.

He just went over the paperwork I filled out and told me what to expect, what pitfalls to be aware of, and what to do if you find yourself in trouble. He also talked about other items like your support structure with family and friends and his support group. I walked out of his office starting a good relationship knowing that his door was open if needed in the future. I think this is 90% of the focus of the psych eval.

He was really there more for my mental preparation for surgery more than a "yes" or "no" on the surgery.

My EGD was done with full sedation. I'm not sure if this common practice or not. I was knocked out for probably 10 minutes or less. I woke up in the recovery room, took two or three good full breaths, got dressed, and then walked out the door with my wife driving. I was back to work 30 minutes later. I felt normal a few hours later.

I did two weeks of Protein shakes. The ones I had were purchased (and required) from the doctor and were extremely filling. I dropped nearly 20 pounds in the preop diet phase. This will inspire you to succeed. It will be much easier than you think.

I'm on day 2 of my pre op liquid diet. It's pretty tough but not because I'm hungry. I think it's just that I miss food. It's like going cold turkey. I was at a friends house tonight and wanted to eat so bad. I admit when I cut my son's cheesecake I did lick the Lil bit that was on my finger. It tasted so good but felt so bad. I immediately made a chocolate Protein shake and reminded myself of the ultimate goal. Good luck

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
