Does this ever NOT WORK for anyone?

Recommended Posts

Silly question...but are you "regular"? Did you know the human intestines can hold up to 25lbs of waste? If you aren't getting in your Water...perhaps, things aren't being "flushed out" properly. Just a thought ;)

It's just not possible for your body to function normally and not be burning fat if it's only receiving 800 calories of "energy" from what you eat. And on top of that you are exercising...so that's more calories burned a day on top of your BMR (the base calories your body would need to perform normal functions if you just sat all day).

So don't worry...the scale will follow...

Lol, yes I've thought about this! TMI, I just told my mom today that I run weigh every time I poop hehe :) But I did start taking colace yesterday, so I'm hoping that will help get everything moving!

The sleeve won't work for some.

Those people don't follow rules.

They don't get their Protein, fluids, and don't exercise!

Don't worry much about the scale. I'm a slow loser but that's better than a gainer! Just keep doing what you're supposed to be and you'll be fine. Just remember how long it took to gain so much weight!

There are people who the sleeve does not work for. I have read about on gal on here that is converting to bypass or DS. It's rare but it happens. Nothing is 100%.

I am also distressed. Sleeved on March 25th, lost 20 pounds instantly and haven't lost anything since. Getting frustrated and depressed. Can you eat too little? I'm afraid to eat now, since the loss has stopped. I am a band to sleeve switch. Lost 100 pounds with band before it slipped and started to erode, gained 80 of it back. Very, very sad...depressed, losing hope. Anyone?

To Simply Me:

My take is that your body has been through a roller coaster of gain and loss and gain and loss. There seems to be an intelligence community in the body that is disconnected from our rational brain, kind of a B.I.A., (Body Intelligence Agency). It secretly decides fat retention and burn off and muscle growth. It has it's own schedule and no amount of coercion or bad press can affect it.

The good news is that it is working for us and not against us. The body is a nearly incomprehensible, complex organization, there are many systems and factors that even the best medical minds are still guessing at.

I have stalled for weeks and and even months toward my the last few pounds to my goal and was contenting myself that my descent was over only to see the numbers go down again. My clothing has appeared to enlarge itself even when my numbers did not change.

You can eat too little. Consult with NUT and Doc. Amazingly, they sometimes know what they are talking about. :D

I would bet my wife's best jewelry, (but not my guitars), that your descent will begin again. Give your body time to catch up. In the mean time, do the right things.

Thank you, gmanbat. My body has been through an excruciating last three years. Two shoulder surgeries and two neck surgeries, and now the sleeve. It's probably confused beyond cellular recognition. I just want normal again, which is the goal of the sleeve. Going to try and increase intake, as much as that messes with me mentally. Definitely a challenge to stay mentally strong.

20 lbs in a month is great! 5 lbs a week! Your body is probably just readjusting before it takes another slide. Don't stress over it! :)

Thanks, Chris R. It's just thy I lost that initial 20 pounds in the first 10 days, probably water...and since then, pretty much nothing. Getting afraid to even eat, so dealing with that mental block. Trying not to feel guilty for eating...and not eating much. Sigh...

:o

Literally, not full, maybe abundantly feciated. Metaphorically, depends on what one defines as sh*t. One man's sh*t is another man's potpourri. To be full of it can be good or crappy.

Apropos of nothing--I just wanted to interject that I think "Abundantly Feciated" would be a kick@ss name for a band.

(Not a gastric band, the other kind. :P )

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
