Cat...how did are you doing?? First two days were pretty rough for me. Stayed in the hospital 2 nites, cause the nausea and vomiting were terrible. I think the pain meds were making me sick. The doc said that since I was had the band out and the sleeve done all in the same day it made the surgery a little worse then if I was a virgin sleever. F-in band...good riddance :)

Today I came home, and the ride sucked, I live about an hour from the hospital. But now I'm home, showered, comfortable and content.

Was thinking about you and hoping that you had an easier time then I.

Let me know how u r.

Jlobyxmas....girl....i am in soo much discomfort. The gas is horrible..i am nauseous to no end... i just got home, sitting here trying to get this Water down. I was dry heaving which i welcomed so that i could at least release the burp that was caught in my chest. I didnt know you got the band out and the sleeve the same day! Poor thing, that had to be horrible... but i am glad that we are both home and ready to heal.

Hi, hope you are feeling better! I will getting my band removed and sleeve done all in one surgery. I'm a little scared but really excited!!! I don't have a surgery date yet but thinking it will be at the end of May or the first of June.

Hope you start feeling better soon. Please keep me posted on your progress.

I've been much more comfortable since I got home. A little off this morning, but I think putting all the medicines (chemicals) in my stomach without any food in there wasn't such a good idea.

Slept great last nite, trying to stay on top of the pain and nausea meds. I don't know if I don't understand gas pain, but I don't think I've really had any. I'm having trouble deciding whats pain vs. whats nausea vs. whats gas.

I have put on 15 pounds since surgery,, I'm sure it was all the fluids they were pumping into me. But wait...i should be skinny by now, shouldn't I?? LOL joking.

Hope your feeling better today.

Hello love...i slept well too but i was obsessed with the whole walking thing so I kept getting up! I dont know what full feels like. When i drink i feel like it is passing through a gas wall, stopping it from reaching my stomach... I am very nauseous and less gassy today..

I was expecting some loss this morning too but there wasnt any :( really I was surprised that I got out of bed but every hour is a new challenge.. my current one is to get this 12 oz of tea in my belly!

Congrats to both of you on your surgeries! Cat don't worry about your husband missing out on eating. Mine is a total sugar junkie and has actually started eating better because of me. We still Celebrate life but with a few adjustments and with a whole lot less food for both of us. The gas you feel in your chest is not in your digestive tract so you can't pass it or burp it out. It's the gas they fill your abdomen up with for the surgery. The only way to get rid of it is by walking. It has to be absorbed by your cells. I think we all expect to come home lighter, but I've yet to meet anyone who did. All those iv fluids. It's no harder than any other diet. They only difference is, with this one all you have to do is stick to the program and the weight Will come off and Stay off! Best to both of you!!

Hope you're both doing better now! I'm starting pre op on weds. Good to hear an honest acct of post surgery. Gives me a good idea of what to expect. Luckily I have my eldest two girls to help in the day and my husband at night. I can wait for the reading in the scales to start dropping. Nervous and excited!!! Keep up the good work, hope you're starting to feel more like your new normal : )

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
