I ate a whole taco! WooHoo!

Recommended Posts

So excited! I struggle daily in my efforts to get enough fluids and calories in. I have tried everything and my dietician told me that everything was OK, it was just going to take longer for my tummy to heal. SO, today I ate a soft taco on a corn tortilla with Beans, chicken, cheese and salsa. Now, it was small, but I don't care. I got it all in! I felt full but not miserable. Good day! Still didn't get enough Water in, though. That's OK! I'm happy with my little taco. I'll try more water tomorrow! I'll be getting that in before you know it, too! BTW, I'm 4 and a half months from surgery. :)

Can I be honest with you? It sounds like your not focused on the right thing. We don't really want to be celebrating how much we can eat, or getting excited to finish servings. I'm not coming down on you or anything because I was in your shoes yesterday trying to finish something and felt a strange satisfaction when I did but really, "full" is NOT the goal, the goal is comfortably unhungry.

Can I tell you that I appreciate what you said here? I wish more people were this honest.

Wow. As previously stated, I have struggled since my surgery to intake food and liquid. I am constantly tired and weak due to lack of Fluid and/or calories. I am being monitored by my dr. and have been assured everything is OK. Just going to take longer for my tummy to heal. SO, being able to take in a small serving of food loaded with Protein is a victory for me and a sign that I am healing and that maybe soon I will be able to intake enough calories/fluid to sustain me adequately through the day. By feeling "full", I did not mean stuffed or had too much, it just meant I was no longer hungry and felt satisfied. This is also a big thing for me since I have not been able to take in ANYTHING without the misery. So, yeah, I am going to Celebrate another step towards recovery. I appreciate your defination of how *I* should feel when *I* eat, but I would rather listen to what both my doctor and dietican have told me to look for and feel.

tb: yep.

Nurse: yep.

tb: I am glad you were able to eat something without being miserable. I was a little concerned when I saw the title of your post but after reading what you said I understood what you meant. I think NurseGrace was mostly responding to her and probably other's reaction to the title. Keep on getting better !

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
