Some think the pre op diet is the hardest part,

I say Hell no!!

in the days following surgery I would if done anything to go back to the pre op diet! :)

This is a difficult stage not only are you fighting head hunger and real hunger, you are hurting and I don't know about you but I always used food to "comfort" myself and that was taken away from me cold turkey (no pun intended) :P

Realize it will get better and this is just temporary

Give your body time to heal and be kind to yourself in the days to come.

You are so kind & supportive Laura...hope you'll stick around here till after I have my surgery cause I know I'm going to need the same support!

As for Lee, I hope everything settles down quickly for you. I'm worried I'm going to feel hungry too. There is no worse feeling...well, maybe labor pains but even after those, you get a reward!

I don't know what to say except that I'll pray for you now. Good luck sweetie & keep your chin up. Happy days are coming!

Agreed in the beginning post op it's hard. So many adjustments, so many questions. It will get better! Life becomes normal.... Hang in there ..... you got this. In those first handful of weeks this web site was my saving grace.... it helped me to know that many others have traveled this road and are doing well. Best Wishes

Hang in there! You'll be okay!! I was absolutely miserable after my surgery!! No one could eat in front of me. You'll be able to eat soon! It's just baby steps. Think of it as eating like a 1 year old. Then a 2 year old and so on! Soon you'll be eating like an adult! Keep your chin up. It's worth it I promise!

I think we all have been there and some of us are still there. Nobody that's had the sleeve tells the bad part but I guess that's a good thing but at least we know it's all worth it. Tomorrow will be 2 wks since surgery and I had to have IV fluids yesterday I felt so bad so that's why it is VERY IMPORTANT TO DRINK YOUR FLUIDS!!

The first few weeks after the surgery is the hardest. Hang in there and remind your self about being overweight and not being able to enjoy your life. Your making a difference in your life right now. All you need now is a little motivation. I bet you can find it here :D

This part does suck! Big time! We've all been there. But know life will get better! Wait til the first time you get on the scale and see a big weight loss! It's then that it's all worth it! Hang in there and try to just concentrate on healing. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
