Hello Everyone, I just had my pre-op tests yesterday and it was a long grueling day but well worth it. By that I mean: a gastroscopy which was one long nap filled with images of Johnny Depp. Then it was on to the EKG Machine, blood and urine tests, ultrasounds etc. My big say is July 18th and although that is only about 2 weeks away, the day cannot come fast enough like many of you have shared. Best of luck everyone! :):D :tongue2:

This was my biggest fear! I tolerate pain well' date=' but I'm a biggggg baby with nausea. They gave me a pill before surgery, they told me it was the same anti nausea med that they gave chemotherapy patients. I'm 3 days post op and haven't been nauseous once![/quote']

Wow I hope they give me something like that cause I fear being nausious too! I think I will ask my surgeon that question on my final visit with him on the 23rd

Glad to hear everything was fine I hear that nausea is a common effect after surgery. Did they give you anything for the nausea?

They gave me Zofran which helped. I am one of those freaky people who don't do well on any kinds of meds especially when put under. Since home on Tuesday my surgery on Monday I only take one pain med at night no nausea pill haven't needed it. Doing well and will be glad to have staples removed Tuesday although ouch!!!

I plan to ask for that during admission. I also told them in pre testing I don't do we'll coming out from surgery from those I've had in the past.

I told everyone! I told my surgeon, I told them when they were prepping for surgery, I even told the anesthesiologist and nurse in the operating room! I told them to blast me with a full arsenal of anti nausea meds even if I didn't feel nauseous. Whatever it was worked! I took the pill about a hour before surgery, and then got a shot of phenagran (sp?) every 8 hours until the next morning. I never felt one bit of nausea!!

No I have 6 incisions. My stay was roughly 24 hours. I was told nausea is normal with all bariatric surgeries.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
