My surgeon's office suggested we get one, but said it wasn't required. They said your anatomy has changed so if you were in an emergency and couldn't give medical history it could be important for personnel to know your stomach is smaller, and anatomy has changed. They gave us a website for "designer" bracelets that I really liked. http://www.laurenshope.com/ They also have nice ankle bracelets and necklaces.

I don't have one. Seems like this one would look nice with lots of different outfits!

I got mine from Lauren's Hope. It's a super cute vintage looking flower Bracelet. I get tons of compliments and no one ever notices the ID tag on the back.

As with everything, each surgeon has a different answer. My surgeon said there is no need for sleeve patients to have med alert tags, so I never got one.

My MD suggested. I have a heart necklace. Says...

My name

Gastric Sleeve

No blind NGs

No NSAIDS

I'm sorry if I sound crazy but I'm new at all this. What's No Blind NGs or No NSAIDS??

Nsaids are things with a non steriod anti inflammatory like aspirin and ibuprofen. The other is when you get a tube stuck down your esophagus.

It isn't really that you can't have NG tubes I had one when i woke up from surgery, its the blind NG tube that is the problem. If they don't know your stomach is smaller and they just go poking a tube down your throat they could puncture something. Its a bigger deal in bypass, but still an issue in sleeve. Same thing with NSAIDS they won't kill you, but they could harm the sleeve because you are more susceptible to ulcers etc. I was told things such as advil could be reintroduced but that i may have to stay on an antacid for the rest of my life if i took it. For me its worth it because Tylonel doesn't work for me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
