How many calories should we be looking for in the powders?

Recommended Posts

The one I got was from Walmart, the "Body Fortress" whey Protein in chocolate. In one scoop it has 30g of protein and 170 calories. Is this too high?

I hear a lot about the nectar ones on here which are much lower in calories, but I'm not sure where to find them (Alberta, Canada) and I would also like to finish the one I bought before I buy anymore. Thoughts?

I use super advanced whey Protein from costco. (It was recommended by my facilitator). It has 130 calories per 1 scoop with 26g of protein. I am from sask, canada.Taste wise I prefer muscle milk but its only 16g of protein with 160 calories (and has more carbs lol). I am always comparing, more protein, less carb/calorie!

I do have some body fortress in my stash as well. There is so much to factor in like how many calories do you consume a day (mine is 800) so I always am looking for lower calorie but you also have to be able to stomach the taste. I have purchased Unjury online and am quite pleased with it as well. It only has 90 calories per scoop 0 carbs, and 21 g of protein...its probably the best for sleevers I think

I tried one of the nectar brands and thought that it was too sweet. Yuk! Personal preference, though

Seems high. I think you could do better with unjury, Optimum Nutrition or AMP from GNC (if they're in Alberta).

My Nut said rule of thumb is no more than 10 cal per gm of carb. Remember you can adjust your portion size up or down.

I like 110 calories per 25 grams of Protein. (that's 30 grams of powder usually) JayRobb and Isopure both fit the bill for me.. Isopure actually has 105 calories per 25 grams of protein!

Here's the criteria my NUT gave me for Protein shakes:

calories < 200/ serving (remember milk adds calories)

Protein <36 grams/serving

Fat<5 grams/serving

Carbohydrates< 18 grams net carbs/ serving

Just had my first NUT consult. They told me to look for 1g Protein per 1g carb. They said you need some carbs during the healing stage and specifically said don't do zero carb the first 6 wks.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
