Ohio Sleeve patients?

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies. I had my surgery at Mt Carmel 11/6.

I'm down almost 74. Struggling right now with the up and down 2 lbs but it will come off.

Katmando12 that is AMAZING! Kudos to you lady! I cannot wait to say that I've lost 74 lbs. How was your hospital stay? Any tips you can give me to make my stay as comfortable as possible I would love to hear. Again, congrats!

I loved the stay at the hospital. Everyone was super nice.

It's rough the first week but once the drain comes out you will feel so much better.

Walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip. Repeat.

Chapstick was my best friend. Rest when you can. It's all so worth it!

What katmando12 said....haha!

Walking was the single most important thing for me after surgery

I wish I would of had the ability to walk after surgery. It would of made for a much easier post op recovery the first month. We had about 8 inches of snow on the ground and it made for a very difficult recovery. I was sleeved on 2/3/14 and oh boy.. If I were to give anyone advice I would say if you live in Ohio.. get sleeved in the late spring or summer so you have the ability to get outdoors. I had a hard time even venturing outdoors to attempt to walk at a mall.. it was horrific but I would not change the decision to have the sleeve done at all. I had a great experience with my Doctor and his staff and I am 2.5 months post op and down 42 lbs at least.. next check up I am hoping it is more.. (at least my clothes are saying it is...lol) Wishing everyone much success.

Kasee...so true! I have noticed the past couple of days when it got cold again that I didn't want to go out of the house but I forced myself to go walk around Target and Old Navy yesterday. We got to do it, right?

I'm going to my initial consult with Dr. Page tomorrow at Mt. Carmel. For those who go there, can you give me easy directions to the office? It's outside of the hospital, correct? I had my baby at Mt. Carmel, and always manage to get lost, never go in the right entrance!

Very well, thank you! Dr. Page agrees that the sleeve would be a good choice for me. I only have 2 clearances to complete: 2 nutrition classes (which I've already scheduled for beginning and end of May) and my psych eval. Then it goes back to insurance!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
