Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was not banded by Dr K, but have met a few of you wonderful ladies already. I hope you don't mind me reading your posts? I was wondering if you guys would mind me getting in on this challenge? (if you don't want me too, I understand... but I'm thinking no matter who did our surgery we are all in this together)

Looks like you guys had fun on the 4th. I'm sorry I couldn't make it... my daughter had a bad cold, and we stayed in MI longer than planned. I was so bummed about not being able to make it ;(

Julie

Of COURSE you can join us. The more the merrier. Just post how much you want to lose and I'll get you added.

Hmmmmm... I was hoping to ne at 75 pounds by Christmas, but this was before I went to MI, was so swollen I had to do liquids for my last 5 days... AND gained 5 pounds  (putting me back to 50 pounds lost). So.... I will say 15 pounds for my challenge.

Possibly... I PB'd pretty severe on Wednesday night. So I do think I am more irritated than normal. I ate some bread that refused to go down. Wasn't expecting that at all. I haven't had restriction after a fill like that before, and certainly didn't expect it after being told I had a leak.

Dr Monash just called me back and we both agreed to wait on the procedure and just check my level on Tuesday. If I am experiencing any level of restriction, there is no reason to rush a procedure like that.

Guess I will see where I am at on Tuesday and decide where to go from there.

Adork, you should talk to Tally! Both of you supposedly have leaks, but also have restriction. I'm hoping you both just got very lucky, and actually there are NO leaks.

Can I just say how much I LOVE fills?!! I have already lost a pound! YAY!!! 280!!

adorKable~ I hope that this restriction sticks around for you and that you don't have a leak.

Jamie~ how are you doing today?

Yeah Lotza! I feel the same way, finally restriction after my 3rd fill.

Marie!

I agree! I love fills!

I haven't had many - in fact - Deb was right, I'm also an oddity! I had restriction coming out of the shoot! (hahaha!) And kept my restriction for a long time, then I got a fill and had great restriction! I hadn't had a fill for 6 months! Insane! Anyway, I have really good restriction now AND I do mean really good! I can hardly eat! Yesterday I was lucky to get in 500 calories! My www.fitday.com is shocked! Yesterday, I made my one cup of chili and sat down to eat, after 2 tbsp my nose was running, I was hiccuping AND I had to stop! Sadly, I covered it and put it back in the fridge. It was so good!!! AND I didn't get hungry for over 5 hours!!!

I better lose a lot of weight over this! Because I'm eating like a bird!!! (tweet tweet tweet!)

Prty, you are doing great. I'm sure you'll meet your 1 year goal.

I'm doing so good ladies. Saving money, yes I am! I've been clipping grocery coupons for a few weeks now. I just made my Thanksgiving Day menu, and I plan to shop for the best bargain all around! My husband is so happy that I'm trying to save money!

You know, I'm cooking dinner for both families this Thanksgiving. I'll be exactly 3 weeks post-op, and Turkey Day is my first day of solids! I don't know why I signed up for this job, haha. Thankfully, my wonderful mother will be here to help me through it and make sure I don't leave the gizzards inside the turkey when I put it in the oven...among other things. :tt2:

Jme, keep up the good work! Glad you are feeling well enough to plan a holiday gathering. Turkey is healthy food!

Julie,

Welcome to the gang!

Hi everyone! I've been reading this forum for awhile now, and thought I would say hello! First of all, I live in Pinedale Wyoming, pretty much in the middle of nowhere. I went to Jackon, which is 1 hour north of me, went through the whole insurance thing, and after being denied the 2nd time have decided to self pay(after taxes!!) I would love to go to Dr. K just from everything I've read and researching him! My problem is, i live around 7 hours away from him. My parents live in Cheyenne, so we can stay there after I'm ok to leave town! Thats an hour and half drive, on top of that it would be another 6 hours or so to my town, probably longer since after reading things, I would have to stop every hour or so and walk! On top of that, I have a 6 year old son in kindergarten, and a 3 year old daughter that is attached to my hip! Mother in law said she would watch them, but I get to thinking and it might be a week before my husband and I get back to rescue her(she's in her 60s) So I'm torn between going to a Dr. that I know is good(MY HEART SAYS YES), but way out of town, or go to the Dr. in Jackson and probably pay WAY more! Is there any suggestion for driving? Can't fly because it would cost 2-3 hundred each, husband and i, and hell why not just go to Jackson!! I just don't know what to do, and am frustrated!! Any info, suggestions would help! Thank you so much for your time!!!

When are we supposed to weigh the first time for this challenge? I forgot.

Thursday is the weigh-in day each week. We were supposed to take note of our weight on Thursday last week (the 13th) and we'll report our total weight loss for Week One this Thursday (the 20th). :smile2:

Hi!

I don't know what to tell you other than to sit down with your support system - either in person on the phone and see if you can figure things out. I know others who have driven from Albuquerque for surgery and then driven home. It's about a 6 hour drive. Of course, they stayed the night right after surgery. Staying in Cheyenne might work if you're surgery is early in the morning. The short drive to Cheyenne wouldn't be too bad. Can your husband or a friend stay with you so that the kids could come home earlier? Where does your Mother-in-law live? Can your Mom watch the kids in Cheyenne just for the day of surgery?

I hope you can work it out. Dr. K is the best and his price can't be beat when you consider the care that you will be receiving. Another thing to think about is - do you have a doctor close by to do your follow up care? Someone to do your fills? There are some doctors who are very reluctant to do fills on patients whom they didn't band.

Good Luck Dear! Come back and post to let us know what you figured out!

dee~

Has anybody had success with a recipe for making their own Protein Bars? I checked under the food and nutrition thread, and didn't find anything. There are many recipes on the internet, mostly for bodybuilders, I think.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
