I am up 1 lb for the week :Banane34:. I am having marital problems and am a horrendous emotional eater. I guess I should look into counseling to help me stop trying to feed myself happy!! Does anyone have any other suggestions? I find myself craving sweets, of course, like ice cream (which I dont usually like that much) and pastry, all of which goes down perfectly easily. I have been skipping the gym lately too!! Bad bandster, Bad bandster :). I wish I could be there at the BBQ with all of you, have to work.

On a happier note, Dee I am sure that he is already so in love with you that he would not notice if you were 12 foot tall, green and had two heads!!

I can hardly wait until I can join in the challenges!!

Dee: Sounds as if the relationship thing is going in the right direction! Have you two exchanged pix yet? Hope this guy realizes what a great woman he has found:biggrin2: Whereabouts in CA is he?

Hope y''all have a good time at the bbq today. Wish I could be there, too, as grillin' and chillin' with friends is the best:drool:

Okay, Brandy and Dee, where do you get those bananas? I LOVED THEM! If kids only knew how immature their parents truly are, they would be even more embarrassed! Aren't we all still 18 and silly in our heart of hearts?

Mini: man, your vacation place looks wonderful:tt1: Maybe we could all just take over the resort: a beach of bandsters!

hI aLL,

I'm not going to the bbq today - didn't feel right about crashing the party since I'm not an official patient of Dr. K. yet. Also, i'm really not a heat person, and it is 98 right now!

Adorkable, please put me down for 5 lbs for the challenge. I think that is a reasonable amount to lose during the preop diet.

I got a rad new haircut and color today, so I think the official change has begun!

So can anyone tell me good bandster adult beverages? I KNOW that there are lots of calories...but I ALSO know that I will want some. I just want the band to stay safe!

Brandy, I just had a margarita. But Mudslides work good, as do Bloody Marys, Screwdrivers, sex on the beach, sand in your shorts, I'm sensing a theme here... I can do just abt anything I try to stay away from carbonated drinks though. Have fun and have a few for me.

By the way where the HELL were you today?? We all missed you..:):Banane34:

Ok awesome! Let do it then. Anyone who wants to participate in the Labor Day Challenge just let me know... also let me know how many pounds you want to lose. :) Let's do weigh ins on Mondays since that is the day Sept 1st falls on. Sound good?

Dee I don't want to steal your thunder but figured I would give you a break from keeping tally this time. Just yell at me if you want to do it! lol. :Banane34:

My goal is to get to TWOTERVILLE! 8.5 pounds to get there, so I will shoot for 10 pounds.

Ok ladies.... this is the list as I have it right now, alphabetized for your reading pleasure. :Banane34: Please let me know if I left anyone off.

Our first weigh in will be this monday!! Lets just use that as our "starting weight" since it will be exactly 4 weeks from the ending weigh in. I think we should post our actual weights if everyone is ok with that. :)

I also thought it might be fun to add an exercise challenge in. Like everyone make a goal for themselves whether it be as simple as taking a walk 3 times a week, or going to the gym X times a week.

I am going to make my goal to walk everyday with Sophie for at least 1 hour. :huh2: I also want to start working on my ginormous arms so I am going to add in strength training 3 times a week.

 LABOR DAY 4 WEEK CHALLENGE

(monday weigh-ins)

adorKable | 10 lbs | 1 hr walk daily | strength 3x week

bahotmomma | 5lbs

brandymom1234 | 10 lbs

DenverGirl | 5 lbs

lap_dancer |23 lbs

lifesaver | 8 lbs

lotzasunshine |10 lbs

minidriver | 10 lbs

PrtyAntOvrYt | 20 lbs

ShelbiCallie | 8 lbs

Woofay | 5 lbs

Rock it ladies!

Shelbi -- Thanks for the kind words. You are doing great as well.

Mare -- It was great to put a face to a name today, I enjoyed visting with you and Harriett. Hope she signs up and has a safe trip home.

Mini -- We missed you today, but felt your vibes. You were there in our hearts.

Jill -- I like the Mix1 drinks, they come in fruit flavors (berry, blueberry vanilla, tangerine, ect...) I get them at costco by the case and drink one in the morning for Breakfast.< /span>

Ador -- Put me down for 5lbs, my losing has sorta stalled out. Also, I am doing the couch to 5k challenge so put me down for 3 weekly workouts.

I know, I know I am bad...I had a family crisis in the Springs and went down there to be supportive. Believe me, I would have had more fun at the BBQ!!!

Thanks for the suggestions, Denise...I do sense a theme, but it is all good!! HAHAH!! Have fun in Cancun missy, you dirty girl! ;-)!!!

Adork...put me go to the gym 3 days per week. I will do the circut as well as cardio for 60 minutes. I am not going to be here Monday, as I am leaving for the World Series...

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
