Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

Anita~ I was worried about you!!! Saying a little prayer for you too. I am glad to hear that you made it safe and sound. It sounds like you will need a nap today!

Michelle, Dee and John~ I LOVED meeting all of you. Your just as sweet in person as you are on line. Nice to know that your "real", if you know what I mean!

LA~ I was told at my post-op, 1 month, that it was ok to start working out. Although, a word to the wise, NO SITUPS for 6 weeks. I started at 4 and could totally feel my port wiggling around. It seriously grossed me out. At 7-8 weeks, it was fine.

Just thought I would post this here. When I was originally researching Dr K... I was a bit freaked that he had barely ANY testimonials on the ObesityHelp website. Then I found this thread and got all my answers I needed.

Well for someone who doesn't find this thread, I wouldn't want them to be swayed from an excellent surgeon because of the lack in testimonials. Soooo... if you are a member of OH... please take a minute to review your experience. I am sure Dr K would appreciate it! :tongue2:

Dr K on OH

L.A. I think this is a great idea to post on the Obesity Help Website, thanks for the link. I too would have not found Dr. K if it had not been for lapbandtalk website. Some of you who have great stories to share should post your stories there.

Hi Everybody -

Woofay - I felt totally guilty when we walked outside and saw that blowing snow. It is strange to think of the raging blizzard of last night and the sunshine and warm weather that is today's weather in Denver. I am so glad that Dee waited and invited you. I want you to know that you have an open invitation to stay with me anytime. That goes for all of you. I have been where you were; praying, white knuckled and it wasn't a pretty picture. I'm sure glad you have a sturdy vehicle that got you through and feel bad about your stressful drive. So glad you are safe. Hugs.

Dee - you are doing really well. Enjoy the quick weight loss and changes that your body will be going through. It is already happening.

Mal - you were missed. Hugs. Feel better.

John - it is amazing the difference your weight loss has made in the way you look. You add an appreciated blast of testosterone to our group. Any other guy bandsters out there who want to come to our support group???

Brandy - it was wonderful meeting you. You deserve to come to support group, even if it is in a restaurant/bar. My gosh, raising four kids is enough to exhaust anyone, then your daughter with special needs, I am glad you are getting out of "Dodge" for a little R and R. When my sons were young, I remember saying the easiest part of my day was going to work. So I admire you, holding the fort and being super mom. I love that you are exercising too. It really helps the endorphins.

Mare and Lydia - Sorry we missed you last night. Hope you will be able to make it on March 6th.

Red Robin on March 6th - It seems fine for all of you. So all you regulars and newbies put Red Robin on your calendar.

Regarding the crunches and/or sit-ups

My trainer and I have found a wonderful stomach crunching system that uses my belly weight to my advantage.

FYI -

She calls it "Belly Ups"

I am on all fours, with a flat back.

I relax my stomach, then pull in my stomach and hold it for a count of 15 seconds. I mean really hold it in as tight as possible and still breathe. I do this 6 times in a row, do something else then repeat the sequence.

It doesn't hurt or smoosh my band area, it gets me in touch with my stomach muscles, which I don't think I have ever really used and it promotes great posture.

Just thought I would share a trick here - to those who deserve the best.

Michelle

Michelle, that was so cute, when you said to Brandy, "you deserve a little R and R." (Red Robin!) thanks everyone for changing the date so that I could attend! Michelle, I think you're just adorable and love our nights out!

Brandy, You Rock! I'm going to go to GNC today and beg and plead and cry for them to take my powdered vits back! I won't try them again, or I'll vomit!

OH NO! DON'T VOMIT!!! NO!

It was so nice last night at RR. Brandy you are just gorgeous! I'm so glad we met you! Thanks for coming out!

AND You Miss Anita-girl! Poor Baby! You should have come home with me! I am so sorry for that drive home! I know how that is. I drove home one night from work and I literally could NOT see the hood of my own car it was such a blizzard, but I was on E-470 and not one place to pull over. AND I was scared to death of driving off the side of the road... I couldn't find the side of the road! Thank you thank you thank you for risking life and limb to join us! I worried about you all evening! Thanks for posting this morning!

Mr. John! Thanks for bringing all your maleness to our group. I'm glad you joined us! Have a great day and just keep "choppin that Brocolli" --:tongue2:

Well, I better get my "steph-a-dee you have a big hiney, just like my Dad" butt in gear and get my errands done!

Love and Hugs,:wub::blush:

dee dee eyes~

(my mom used to call me that!)

Michelle... thanks for the bellyUps tip. I will try that!!

Natalie at Dr K's office told me 4 weeks. Waaah... I wanna work out NOW. lol. I guess I can wait one more week.

All you RR girls and guys look so good! Jealous I can't join y'all. :tt2:

I FINALLY decided to try food food tonight. Had my favorite salmon and broccoli recipe. YUM! It was sooo good. Definitely do not feel ANY restriction. I went slow... chewed well... and had no issues at all. Ate almost the whole 6 oz Salmon (minus 2 bites) and about 1/4 cup steamed broccoli. Nummy. :tt1: Hubby wants to cook steak tomorrow. Told him I am not going to test the tummy that much yet!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
