Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

That chick Colorado Crazy was just in another post extolling the virtues of her surgeon and how wonderful he is. I pointed out to her that for all she rips on Dr.K, her surgeons program sounds exactly like his!! Hmmmm.....

And she also said that you can reach her surgeon ANYTIME via cell phone. Being a nurse, that one just made me laugh my arse off!! Good luck with that one honey!!!

(Ok, so I am being a little bitchy but come on, she had it coming...)

Yes, mine rubs on it terribly. It gets very sore. Maybe I just need to get the girls lifted up to my chin, lol.

Tally!! That sucks!! I am sorry to hear that!

Oh, and I agree-my tolerance for stupidity and crazy people is at an all time low right now. Colorado Crazy fits right into that category so....

Oh! I'm sure I'll fit right in! Esp. if I'm still PMS'g by then! I'll be worse than Puff Mama and I'll be meaner than a rattle snake! I'm sure I'll make lots of friends AND scare many children!

Do they really think I'll be giving out candy? That's insane! I have a band! I'm going to be giving out candy! I'll be giving our Fiber Chews! That's it!

I was hoping that stupid therapist would have given me some advice or anything, but not!! He probably wasn't even listening to me! Like this morning, he's already called me 4 times AND I'm at work! Yesterday, he called about 10 times before the end of the day! I wanted to scream!!!

I completely ignored my ex after he dumped me 2.5 yrs ago. Has been the best decision ever. My Dad said, "just write him off", and I did.

Don't be disappointed that you "let yourself" fall back into emotional eating. Skinny people do it too! It's part of life, so there's no shame in washing the pain away with a pint of B&J Magic Brownies...or a fifth of some goooood tequila! :tongue2:

You know, I agree. Life is hard, and people cope with it lots of ways. I could be a compulsive gambler or take drugs. A little ben & JERRY'S THERAPY is not the worst thing one can do

I'm a Parrothead though - a total Jimmy Buffett freak. I've seen him 3 times - last year I actually traveled from NC to Tampa Bay to see him in November! Love that man

Buffet concerts are sooo much fun! have you read his books? There are too many characters and I just can't keep track of his plots.

Is he related to my husband? It sounds like they have the same stalker gene or something. And maybe I can get a group discount if you fly here and go to my therapist!

Hey ladies, instead of therapy we need a few days at a swanky resort that has a spa! Who's planning that???

Let me ask you something....my soon to be ex just told me he has been seeing the sitter that sat with him while he was in the hospital outside the hospital. I think that is awfully inappropriate of her....what do you think?

At our hospital we have a policy against dating patients. She should be reported.

Awe...thank you so much! Thats so nice of you. I am in Westminster so I will make a trip to the local Walgreens.:wink2:

One more question, did any of you have trouble swallowing after surgery?

YES! My throat hurt so bad for 3 days. I got desperate, and had my daughter buy me that spray that tastes horrible, but numbs the back of your throat. Also had a lot of popsicles.

It would be nice if he could go further down just 1/2 inch so the bra doesn't rub on it all day :)

Tally, don't forget that bikini you and I are going to make a million dollars designing that has the wide band to cover our scars!

Have a great night, everybody!

Waa haa haa!!!!! She is a freakazoid!! And the scary thing is, the few times I have met her when she sat for patients in our unit, I was TOTALLY fooled by her!! Scaaaaaary!!!

PD

No trouble swallowing...just a sore throat from the breathing tube. I was nervous that I would be a little tight and it would be hard to swallow, but was fine. You will feel a little restricted to begin with, but it will soon loosen up (unless your a lucky one). You will do AWESOME!!!!

Let me know if you need anything...I am just up the highway in Brighton.

Brandy~Thank you! One of the girls(uptownmami) who had surgery yesterday isn't doing very well so I'm very concerned and even more anxious. I didn't get a chance to speak w/her but she was shaking her head giving me the :tongue2:. I hope she is doing better tonight. By the way, I still would like to do lunch sometime, possibly in Oct. when all of the "hoopla" has died down.

I didn't have any problem either. In fact, I went out to dinner the next day with this really wonderful lady I met in Denver. I think her name was . . . .dee???? Yes, I think that's right:smile:[/quote

Mini~ This gives me great hope and motivation. I hope I have a speedy recovery.:)

I too, need the girls lifted. Mine gets irritated.

You girls are so funny! Tally, that would irritate me to no end. Yikes! I may have to bring this to Dr.Ks attention before surgery. My "frisbee" is irritating enough w/out something rubbing on it. Ouch!:wink2:

Cassy~I'm so happy I got to see you today. You looked awesome and I can't believe you were in jeans. I hope you continue to do well. Have a safe and comfortable flight home. DO NOT go back to work on Mon. if you are not ready!:wink2: Please keep us posted on your progress as you start to feel better.

Uptownmami~You poor thing! I felt so bad for you today. I'm not sure what was going on but it didn't look good. Please post w/a quick update when you feel better. I have a feeling you won't be flying home tomorrow so let me know if there is anything I can do over the weekend. I would be more than happy to bring you whatever you need. :smile2: I'm just worried about you and want you to feel better. Sending lots of hugs your way!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
