Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

You girls are cracking me up. My girls are deflating horribly. I am so sad. At least they are lighter now so my bra can hold them up higher.

Brandy... how close to goal do you have to be before you can go in for a consult. I have bat wings the size of a 747. I am sure I could fly if I flapped fast enough.

Fill level advice needed.

Some things go flying right through and I feel like I can eat way too much. For example, had a hamburger patty with grilled onions and mushrooms and was able to eat it all no problem. So I scheduled a fill. Then I got stuck on chicken yesterday (eventually went down) and salmon is creeping down at a snail's pace today. So now I feel like I shouldn't get a fill.

Argh. So frustrated.

You know that it is bad when you look like the Mrs. Doubtfire costume...and your in your 30's. Yucky

:tt2::laugh::smile2::laugh::thumbup::laugh::smile2::laugh:

That was too funny. Sorry, not trying to laugh at the state of your tummy, but that was really funny.

Shelbi....you can eat steel cut oats as your carb at every meal if you want on BFL. Isn't that the yummiest stuff ever?

So glad that there are super duty bras available, yes? I figure with enough steel, struts, straps, etc. I can keep them up where they belong for a bit longer.

Since you can fly, you should come for a visit!! :tt2::wink::smile2:

I'm kind of in the same spot. I have a fill scheduled for tomorrow, but some of the time I'm still feeling like I have good restriction. Weird. I hope I don't end up regretting the fill tomorrow . . .

If I don't get something done with the girls I'll be able to tuck them into my underwear soon. I swear.

Brandy, your description of your tummy cracked me up. Mine looks like a big white slab of fish or something. It's just gross. TMI- I have to use the hairdryer and dry the underneath side or I get a disgusting rash. Hopefully that will help convince my insurance to pay to have it removed though.

Mini - I get the rash thing...turns out it's a yeast infection! Yep, gool 'ol yeast! Loves that moist and dark area! I have since learned that my soap contributes to a break out...I now use Aveeno shower gel and have had ONE flare-up this year. When I do have issues (which is usually because I'm travelling and don't have my shower gel with me) I use Monistat cream or Tinactin cream (yeah, the foot stuff, but it works). I'm hoping that I can use the recurrance of yeast infections as a reason to get insurance to pay for a tummy tuck...we'll see...

Thanks, Marcy! I will give that a try. I hate the yucky rash. I don't know about you, but it's stinky too! Wow, can't believe I'm actually discussing this on the internet, but I guess if anybody might be able to relate it would be people here!

Good luck with your fill! I hope you don't regret it either. That is how I feel too. I don't want to be too tight that I am miserable. I will discuss it with the good DR and see what he thinks. My fill isn't until the 17th so I have some more time to see how it goes.

Great! You ladies just made me LOL at work. Now everyone is looking at me expecting me to forward them some funny email I've just read. What would they think if I sent them this? :tongue2::tt2::mellow: 747 Bat wings and deflated Mrs Doubtfire boobs. HAHA!!

Happy Friday everyone! Pray for me - Tropical Storm Hanna is on her way to NC!

Well today is the weigh-in for the Halloween challenge. I will start my weight at 246. I know my goal of 25 pounds is extreme but I have been losing pretty steady. I need to start exercising though.

I have feel the same way about another fill. I go on the 17th also. I had a REALLY hard time during my TOM, but things are going better now. I haven't PB'd since.

I am SO jealous of you right now!! I have been trying really hard to watch what I eat and I have been exercising but I'm still stuck in the 292-294 range. I knowI need another fill but who knows when I'll be able to get one. :tongue2:

I'm sorry, Marie. I know how frustrated you must be. You're losing at about the exact same rate that I am and I know that I sure wish it could be faster. I just keep telling myself that at least I haven't gained!

Very true! I am having the hardest time finding a decent priced fill dr here in utah. I called South Valley surgical and asked what they charged for fills and the lady seemed really skeptical that I had got my band in Colorado and even had the nerve to ask me if I had it done in Mexico, when I had just told her Colorado! :cursing:Then she proceeded to tell me that she doesn't know how I could have found someone cheaper there than they were, $1290. She sounded surprised when I rattled off the price tag and extras for going there, like the $15 fills forever. I was ready to hang up since obviously I didn't qualify because I wasn't banded by them and she said, well if you had just moved from colorado, you would be fine. And I thought- what difference did it make either way I would be a patient that was banded in colorado!!!!:tongue2::cursing:

Anyway, the best I can find is $150 right now, and I guess that is better than spending the enitre day traveling to Denver.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
