Go to the general lap-band surgery discussion page and it should be one of the first ones on the site. It is very inspirational if you haven't been on it!

Brandy!

Oh My Goodness! I love your before and after pictues!

You have done so well! You're such an inspiration to me and to so many!!!

You've always been Gorgeous!!!

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous! You all look wonderful -- it does my journey good to see your smiling faces every month!

Bandy! Congrats on your bandiversary ~~ you are rocking' that band, young woman! You are doing so amazingly well.

Mal, How's the Buster boy doing today?

I am dog sitting my two Golden nephews while my sister is on vacation for the rest of the week, so it feels like a mini-vacation for us, too. She lives on a lake and my son and I have been all over the place in the paddle (peddle?) boat today. Great workout for the legs. I did 50 minutes on her treadmill this morning and 35 minutes last night. I'm going to try for another session tonight after we fish for awhile. I am doing better food choice wise this week, but I am getting hungry far sooner than before. I am hoping to be down some for the Saturday weigh-in. I'll take anything at this point.

Way to go Anita -- let go of all of your old clothes; you'll never need them again. I'm certain of it!!

My big fear right now in this process == that I've lost all that I'm going to lose. I've got 35-40 pounds to go to get to a healthy BMI and I fear that I'll never get there because I will not be satisfied with eating so little food. (Spoken like a true addict, eh?) My goal weight is ~164, so I know there are plenty of people walking around who are at that weight and are perfectly content with the amount of food they can eat. I need to do some more head work, I know.

Have a good rest of the week, beautiful people!

Mal~ we missed you!!! How is that Buster?? We need an update, please!

Dynamomini~ Oh where, oh where has our Dynamo gone? Oh where or where can she be? (she's in the Bahamas gettin hitched????! Ha!:frown:)

Thanks Woofay & Shelbie~I think my Buster is doing better. I didn't have to take him to the hospital last night because he started eating and drinking on his own (yes, I cried and cried as he started to eat)! He ate my boneless chicken thigh, I gladly gave it to him.

I think your song is GENIUS!

Yay Buster! Give him big kisses from all the lap band ladies.

Shelbie -your dog sitting adventures sound very fun, and very healthy! I'm sure you'll continue to lose. You seem like such an active person who is always on the go.

Of COURSE Dr. K. only bands beautiful people. I remember that was the first question he asked on the phone. "Are you beautiful? Will you glow? Are you kind enough to be one of my bander beauties? I only accept beautiful, glowing, kind patients. I do have a reputation to uphold!"

Dee - my surgery is scheduled for 1:00 on the 2nd. I would be honored to see your beautiful, glowing face before I'm wheeled away. Hope you can run down.

Brandy -- How did your fill go, did you get one or not?

Mal -- So happy that Buster is doing better. It's no fun when are little ones are sick (animals or kiddos). We sure missed you last night.

Renee -- Where have you been? I still have some clothes for you (3 bags worth).

I did get a slight fill (o.1cc) so just a touch. I also saw Dr. K today and not Tom like I thought. That was a nice surprise. Dr. K said I should only lose 5-10 pounds more. Tom said 20-30 more. I want to lose at least 15 more and the re-evaluate where I am. The number in my head is 27 more, I need to get over that "certain number, certain size" syndrome.

I was going to try to meet up with Sidann, but I am not sure if I saw her or not, she could have been in the other room. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes.

Brandy -- I think you have to be happy with where you are at weight wise. I know that is the hard part for me I keep think I want to be abt 130 - 135, but it will depend more what I look like once I get there. You will know what is right for you once you get there. You look great!!!:rolleyes2:

So I had this fleeting thought that I could maybe arrange to have my first fill on August 1 then come to the reunion. However, I have friends who are getting married the evening of the 2nd, and that would probably be a bit dicey to try to make sure and catch a flight back before the wedding. Oh well. Maybe next year! Or maybe I could come for a fill when you guys are having a RR night!

hey!

That's too bad! Do you think they'd change their wedding date for you?

Probably not!

I can't wait to meet you on the 2nd! You're going to be so cute -- waiting for your surgery! I was a big goof ball!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
