Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Dee, put me down for a +1 this week. I am doing terrible lately but I also had Tom last week. I am going to the beach on July 18...so I am going to "kick it up a notch" and really start watching and exercising.

They will also want to know who will be staying with you for the first 24hrs. You wouldn't be able to drive anywhere, even if you wanted to. They had to remind me to breath. I am still not ready to go out and about.

I am all messed up for sleeping. I am also trying to figure out when I feel full, as I don't ever really. I just keep drinking and "eating" my liquids. Haven't had anything come back up even though I gag on the horrible tasting antibiotics. I do gurgle a lot though.

Hi everybody. I have been absent for quite awhile. I've been on a terrible plateau and it was really bugging me so I just haven't wanted to think about my band and weight loss. However, I am ready to tackle it again. I don't think I can possibly catch up with all the posts I've missed, but I'll give it a try. And if you start a new challenge after this one, I want to participate!!!!

I'll be one week tomorrow. I am looking forward to warm foods, ok warm liquids. I am feeling pretty good. I have random pains, but nothing bad. I can't walk much as it is really really hot and humid here and I have developed a cold from being exposed to air conditioning. I have yet to be full and am still gurgling away.

Hey Mal! How are you? No, our tent is not set up yet. DH has been out of town working quite a lot this month, and it just BARELY stopped raining here. In addition, not only were my dad and mother-in-law going through cancer treatment (MIL passed away) but now my mom is being treated for breast cancer. Blah.

How is your fam?

Just tried Water aerobics for the first time. Difficult when you have so much body fat that your butt wants to float all the time. I don't know if I'll be able to lift my arms tomorrow.

Water aerobics is great. I've been doing them for years, as it's the only workout that my joints can handle. I will be going back this fall after I heal up. You really do get a good workout and sometimes it takes a while before your arms can be used again.

I am so happy happy to see you! :party:That's me in the red dress and the green hat! Not the best outfit, but I was too happy to care! We've all hit plateaus Dear, don't hide from us, come back and let us support you through it.

Take it slow. I remember getting full on half of a popsicle and thinking. "oh no! I hope I didn't ruin my band." it's an odd time, we are all so different. But drink drink drink and take it slow. You'll feel better soon! I am happy the surgery went well!

YOU My Darling Mal were gone way tooo loooong and because of that you deserve the Naughty Bananas! :tt1: Don't make me send those to you again! I'm glad you're back! I missed you!!!:tt2:(that's me playing you a happy welcome back tune!) (that's you dancing on top of the piano)

Where are you doing your water aerobics? I go to Lifetime Fitness. One teacher is excellent and gives us our monies worth, the other doesn't. I have found that water aerobics can either be extremely good as far as a workout or an extreme waste of time, depending upon the instructor. That's why I just swim my laps. The Weekend Morning girl is excellent, however. If you ever want to go with me as my guest, just let me know!

:couch2: No more couch potatoes for us!

Funny thing happened today. I went by the office to see Natalie. I had told Natalie I WASN'T returning until I was unrecognizable! I'm still recognizable, but I had to drop something off so I just decided to go on in. My last fill was in November and I am still at a very sweet spot! I was there on my 1 year anniversary and didn't get a fill, but that was the last time they saw me. When I walked in the office Dr. K said, "I almost didn't recognize you!" I told him, "you're just saying that because Natalie told you to!" He said, "no, I'm serious." Such a sweet guy! It was fun to see everyone! I can't believe my fill has been so good for so long. (knocking on my wooden head!) - I love my Band! This morning I had 1 egg and a veggie sausage and was satiated for 6 hours! Amazing!

I don't know what happened to the boobies on the dancing on the piano banana! It's you, so you tell us what happened to the boobies! (these boobies?)

I love that Undy 5000! You know, you have to be in pretty good shape to run 5K's! I could never do that! I ran in high school, but haven't since. Sad, huh?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
